⭐️Rebrand⭐️

I recently worked with Dan, Mike, and Kylie on a new look for MB Construction Ltd. MB Construction cover all aspects of groundwork and construction all over the country. The company was founded in 2012 and has grown a lot since so their existing logo was outdated and no longer relevant. They take great pride in their work, finishing everything to a high standard, and wanted a brand identity to reflect this. Inspired by the angles and structure of buildings, the end result is a clean, modern logo with a high-quality feel. It was a pleasure working on this!

✨Brand Refresh✨

ꜱᴀʟᴜᴛᴇ ɴᴀɪʟꜱ & ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ is owned by nail technician Rebecca. Based in a small town, with a number of beauty salons to compete with, Rebecca felt it was time for a new look for her business that would help her stand out. Happy with her existing customers but also looking to attract new ones, we decided that a little refresh would be the way to go.

The aim was to keep the same fun and unique feel of her existing branding but bring it up to date, steering away from any stereotypical imagery. The end result is a simpler design that is much more versatile. It's fun and colourful, reflecting the amazing nail art Rebecca creates. I really enjoyed working on this 🙂

Not sure what the difference is between a brand refresh and a rebrand? With a brand refresh, your brand personality and values stay the same. Your visual appearance changes but the overall feel are the same.

What a refresh looks like:

- Updating your current logo or visual designs
- Changing your slogan
- Altering your colour pallet
- Updating and enhancing marketing materials

Reasons for a refresh:

- You want to attract new customers without losing existing ones
- You feel your existing branding looks dated
- You want to stay ahead of your competitors
- You want to reconnect with your existing customers
- You want a more cohesive brand image, identity and message

With a rebrand, your brand personality and core values change. You need to create something from scratch.

What a rebrand looks like:

- New logo
- New colour palette
- New fonts
- New marketing materials

Reasons for a rebrand:
- You’re not attracting your ideal customer
- You’re struggling to stay consistent
- Your business has changed
- Your branding wasn’t a priority when you launched your business
- You no longer want to show off your business

Feel free to get in touch if you need help deciding what you need!

Tips for selecting fonts

If you’re an 8 year old girl (writing poems about unicorns 🦄) then carry on using comic sans, it was made for you! Anyone else - there are so many other fonts, here are some tips for selecting fonts if you’re struggling:

✨Look for inspiration - See what styles catch your eye and whether they reflect your brand’s personality and values. Also, consider your target audience and what will appeal to them.

✨Legibility - If people can’t read it then there’s really not much point is there?! Avoid using fancy fonts for large bodies of text. If you select a decorative font only use it for titles and headlines and pair it with a simpler complimentary font for larger chunks of copy.

✨Don’t use more than 3 - Typically I choose 3 fonts in most design projects; heading, sub-heading or accent font, and body font. Avoid using too many different fonts as it will be confusing and difficult to read.

Why consistency is important when it comes to your branding

Having a consistent brand is important for building trust with your customers. You want your customers to buy from you again and again and recommend you to others. Your customers want to feel like they're in good hands and taken care of. Having a well-thought-out brand makes you look professional and that you really care about what you do.

How to be consistent? Make sure your image is the same across all platforms, from printed materials to your website and social media profiles. Ensure you’re using your logo correctly and using the same colours, fonts, imagery, and style. All of these you can find in your brand guidelines! Keeping your brand identity consistent will help your business become easily recognised and memorable.

Selecting a colour palette has got to be my favourite part of design. I pick colours that not only look good together but that work for your brand. Here are some of the things I consider:

✨Which colours seem the most “appropriate” based on your brand values and personality?
✨Which emotions and characteristics are your brand trying to communicate?
✨What colours do your competitors use? I want your business to stand out!

These are some colour palette ideas for a personal trainer. Motivational, inspiring, welcoming, and fun were some of the words their members used to describe their business and influenced these colour choices. Which is your favourite?!

How is it Monday again already?! I actually don’t mind Mondays - I like to get caught up on admin and emails, write my to-do’s, and gently ease myself into the rest of the week. But first I need another cuppa! ☕️

Graphic design can sometimes be an afterthought when you’re keen to launch your business or get your products out there. Making things look pretty might not be a priority but design does so much more than that and can even increase your sales!

Unique and thoughtful graphic design can help you build trust, creates a good first impression, and helps you stand out from your competitors. With good quality graphic design, you can increase your visibility, and attract your ideal customers - hopefully resulting in them buying your products or using your services!

Sounds good doesn't it?! Message me if you need help with anything 😀

Happy New Year! (Only a week or two late!) The last few months have been so busy and I've fallen off the posting wagon but now I'm back. So here's Nigel bot as my first post of 2023! This was a fun little project to finish off 2022 for Beaty Consultancy. Ricky wanted a robot form of their dog Nigel to sit with his existing bots. Just look at beautiful Nigel, those eyes!

Brochure design for Log Homes Finland 🌲

Log Homes Finland is a family-run business based in Longtown, Cumbria. For many years they have been designing and building high-quality, bespoke log cabins, log houses, and mobile log homes from Finland.

Darryl, who runs the business alongside his wife Yvonne, got in touch to ask if I could re-design the brochure for their mobile log homes as they felt it was looking outdated. Inspired by the lines and angles of the buildings, I came up with a timeless design that suits their existing branding and matches the feel and quality of their bespoke products!

Really enjoyed working on this one, now I'm dreaming of my own cosy log home in the middle of nowhere!
