December has been so busy! I've not had much time to post, or do much creative work. So this is one of my illustrations from a few years ago that I love. A beautiful mallard, hand drawn and finished with brush pens. Adore the way his colouring turned out, especially the greens.

It's been a busy month! Lots of time spent developing Christmas promotional material. The brief for this fun design was a Vintage pin up at a Christmas karaoke party! I incorporated some tattoos to keep inkeeping with the alternative vibe of the pub.

AI: love it or hate it?
Although my roots are in coding and designing from scratch, I’m not opposed to using AI in my work. I don’t believe it’s taking over anytime soon, but it’s undeniably useful—great for debugging, generating function templates, or providing a framework that saves time and money. In art, too, it can help spark ideas and establish a base for design.

That said, AI rarely produces results at the standard you actually need. Ask it to refine something, and it often makes things worse. In the end, you still need a skilled developer or designer to polish the work—otherwise you’re left with a buggy, unfinished mess.

I'm currently working on a Halloween poster design for The Lady Luck Bar. And as I'm super short on time, I'm using AI to get me started, these are the base ideas it generated, which are a good start. But I'm going to develop and edit them into something I actually want! Keep posted on my updates for the finished product.

Productive work morning designing the upcoming live music print and digital media for The Lady Luck Bar.

Typically, I would have done this in Adobe InDesign, as the layout and typography tools are superior. However, as the owner wants to update these monthly herself and doesn't have access to the full Adobe suite, I've designed it in Photoshop, which she uses already. Allowing her to update content regularly to advertise new events.

The tattoo repeat print I designed is used for the background and appears consistently across The Lady Luck's branding.

Recently completed a project updating the website for Ramsgate Music Hall . A fantastic local venue, with amazing sound and intimate stage. Obviously I had to go and catch some live music while I was working for them too! 😀

The site was fully updated in wordpress to ensure it was responsive on all mobile devices, up to date, and with better focus and call to action for an improved user experience.

Custom child theme and CSS, custom plugins, SEO optimisation and intergrated API automation to collect and maintain email mailing lists.
