A well deserved weeks’ break in Santorini from running 2 businesses and parenting 2 crazy, young kids.

Long hours, working weekends, consistent customer requests and management - both for websites (B2B) and temporary tattoos (B2C), urgent order requests, managing stressful technical issues, logistical planning and unpredictable workloads, all on a daily basis.

Although rewarding, it gets a lot sometimes and can easily lead to burnout. So it’s been lovely to disconnect for a whole week, soak in the calmness of Santorini’s beauty and recharge the batteries.

Back to the crazy workload from September which I genuinely look forward to, but for now - cheers to Santorini, what an island 🏝️

Simple but effective, one page website design to help promote Louise McKinlay’s conservative campaign to be mayor of Essex.

Design is kept minimal, clean and inviting to get people to quickly learn about what Louise does and then be able to hit the “Back My Campaign” button.

A sale or conversion by a customer always starts on an unconscious and emotional level - these days the majority of purchase decisions are made before a prospective customer even contacts you, this is why it’s so critical for your website to be able to effectively convey the right message. A bit off topic from web design but I was walking into Home Bargains with the kids the other day to get some summer bits and we couldn’t believe it when we found an entire Halloween section already up! There we were trying to enjoy the summer and were already reminded that Autumn is on its way!

It made me think how we see this everywhere in our modern world, constant upsells, next promotions, new trends, something new to try, do, have, watch and you feel you can never truly enjoy the now.

For instance, you watch a film or series on Netflix or any other streaming service, instead of being able to soak up what you’ve just seen and sit in the credits for even a moment - it’s “what to watch next” instantly in your face.

You buy something online and get the product, instead of enjoying the item you’ve just purchased - you get promotions offering discounts for your next purchase or flyers for other company merchandise.

It’s literally everywhere and we as consumers are so used to it now I don’t think people even notice it - but its contributing to making people more anxious, not able to to live in the now, easily bored, constantly seeking new highs.

So let’s try and take a step back, I know upsells and promoting the next product aren’t going to change in marketing but let’s all be a bit more conscious of it. Maybe stop buying Halloween junk in July or Easter eggs in December in case they run out. Take the time to really enjoy and appreciate something you’ve bought online before making another purchase. Click the hidden “watch credits” button every time your streaming service asks you what to watch next, and maybe we’ll all start to appreciate the small things again and these companies will start getting the hint.

Just wanted to share, love to hear people’s thoughts on this too.

You can drive all the traffic you want to your website but if it’s not setup correctly to convert leads then it’s just wasted traffic. What’s more, the higher bounce rate you’re getting will actually harm your authority and rankings further. TIP: always work on a good website design first, before marketing it.

Our website and temporary tattoo company Test My Tattoo were approached by Cosmopolitan this year to appear in their summer edition (Aug - Sept 2026) as a unique and exciting brand to feature in their magazine. The edition has just come out today - available in all magazine stores and supermarkets nationwide!

We went to a great little restaurant on Felixstowe seafront at the weekend and had a really memorable waitress serving us. She didn’t do anything huge or even that impressive, but it was the minor, proactive details that stood out.

She was already busy but noticed our kids on the table a little bored, and asked them directly if they’d like colouring pens and papers, in such a lovely way that my 9 year old had a massive smile on her face.

She saw me queuing at the bar with a bottle, and asked if I wanted that filled up with water and ice. She made sure the kitchen were hurrying up with one of our meals. I could see her always walking around each table whilst she served looking for ways to help, it was only small things but because you don’t often get those minor gestures it really stood out.

So it’s good to think how to bring that kind of energy to your own business. Small, but effective gestures for your customers can go along way in establishing who you are as a business and making a lasting impression.
