So I’ve set myself a little challenge. I want to loosen up my painting style and get outside during my working day. I plan to regularly do a 20min walk each working day, stop halfway and take a photo. Then on my painting day (Thursdays) do a 20min painting of one of my photos. Here’s the first of my efforts and I’m quite pleased. Things I’ve learnt from this one include: water isn’t too scary to try and paint inside 20mins, I need to work on perspective and be more selective on the detail because 20mins goes quickly. Things I love: the added pencil details lightly on to of the watercolour, the texture using masking fluid for the foreground has added and the colours of the water of the canal. If anyone fancies joining in I plan to post the results each Friday and use the hashtag
