I was pushed out of my comfort zone recently...🎥🙈
..I was asked to present Autogem Invicta Ltd's Under Pressure '26 event and smile in front of the camera for the first time, rather than work away behind it.
On the hottest day of the year, with lots of time to overthink things (and with an occasional sense of self-loathing which rears its ugly head from time-to-time), I gave it my best shot!
Under Pressure was more than an event in isolation to me, and something much more cathartic. I learned a heck of a lot for a start! I found myself catching the eye of Prashant Chopra, Adit Chopra, Omid Rahmani, Richard Neads and Darren Hartley during the day, who would smile, nod and give me one of those looks that told me: "We're right behind you mate."
I don't want to sound too glib, but I felt part of a little family; that they backed me unconditionally, at the very moments I wasn't so sure myself.
I seemed to lose any pressure, other than the kind I put on my own shoulders to do Autogem justice and not let them down.
And you know what? It went well!
Once I muscled my way past the self-loathing stage (because nobody really likes to see themselves on camera, do they?!), I was really pleased! More importantly, so was Prashant, Daz, Omid and the Autogem team...
..So much so that they want me to do it again next year! 😁
My bread and butter is generating exposure for my clients, getting them in the news and creating content that big audiences get to look at. This was an unlikely cherry on the cake.
And the morale of this equally unlikely Facebook post?
Jump out of your comfort zone every now and then...It's never as bad as you think it might be - and it can actually be the best thing you ever did 🙌
(And if any businesses out there want to grab some headlines of their own, then please don't hesitate in getting in touch! I remain a bit better behind the scenes greasing the wheels, rather than pointing at them!)
