I wanted to pass on my congratulations to Wolverhampton Art Gallery who have been shortlisted for the Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Award, the only museum award to be judged by the families who visit.

From February to late April, families across the UK voted for their favourite heritage attraction on the Kids in Museums website. A panel of museum experts, children and young people then whittled down hundreds of nominations to a shortlist of 20 heritage attractions. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in October.

I can testify that the gallery is indeed a fantastic venue for families having enjoyed many happy hours there with my own children over the years and in the 12 years I have been running Raring2go! there has been a double page spread of events for families featured in every issue. In fact there are so many, myself and the gallery staff sometimes struggle to fit them all in! Thank you to the gallery team for all your efforts over the years to entertain, inspire and educate our children through the power of creativity and art.

Like so many of you, we’ve been watching the devastating fires in Stourbridge, and our hearts go out to everyone affected.

The response from our community has been incredible. There are already so many people and businesses offering help, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of a community that pulls together when people need it most.

Archie’s is a safe space — today, tomorrow and for as long as it’s needed.

If you’ve been affected by the fires, displaced from your home, are waiting for news, or you simply need somewhere away from everything for a few hours, come and find a corner at Archie’s.

You don’t need to buy anything. You don’t need to explain. Just come in. 🤎

We have:

🎨 Colouring and crafts to help take your mind off things
🎲 Board games
☕ Plenty of food and drinks
📶 WiFi
🔌 Plug sockets and leads to charge phones and other electricals
🌿 Outside space if you need some air
🛋️ Lots of little corners if you’d rather have some peace and quiet
🧣 Blankets if you need to get cosy

Affected by the fires or not, if today feels overwhelming and you need somewhere to be, our little green door is open.

Our deepest condolences go to everyone who has lost so much, and our thoughts are with the residents, families, emergency services, volunteers and everyone working tirelessly to help.
