Gear won't fix your content, a strategy will.

Equipment just amplifies what's already there, so if your plan isn't clear, it'll just amplify confusion.

Solid strategy + equipment = Progress

Messy strategy + equipment = Loud mess

Most marketing feels difficult because people try to do everything.

Perfect video.
Great graphics.
Trendy edits.
Daily posts.

Trying to be good at every format usually leads to doing none of them well.

A simpler approach is to find your advantage.

Ask yourself:

What type of content would be easiest for us to create consistently?

For some businesses it’s visual.

Their product looks incredible on camera, so they should lean into photography and video.

For others it might be personality, writing, education, or humour.

Your advantage often becomes your strategy.

This is work I made almost 3 years ago. It felt relevant to post again as I've been working behind the scenes on my positioning and where I want to go with the business.

Having done some amazing work with she helped me focus in on what I enjoy and why I do what I do. In very simple terms - I like to create a sense of experience through my photo and video.

It was a massive lightbulb moment as it was so aligned with the work I produced on my photography degree, and what made me fall in love with cameras in the first place. I enjoy capturing a sense of place, emotion and feeling.

I don't have an industry niche, and never will, but I do have a focus which I didn't have before

Most video marketing fails before the camera is even turned on.

Because it starts with tactics.

What should we post?
How should we film it?
What trend should we follow?

But the real question is:

Why are we posting this in the first place?

If you want someone to visit your shop, book your service, or trust your brand — start with the feeling you want them to leave with.

Then work backwards.

Who needs to be in it?
How should it be shot?
What music supports that feeling?
What environment tells the story?

Good marketing doesn’t try to show everything.

It guides how people feel… and what they do next.

Without purpose, it’s just content.

And content alone doesn’t drive business.

This is the AMAZING new in Ipswich

They’ve been working on this launch for a while and it was such a honour to be trusted with capturing the space. Can’t wait to try the food - it looks insane!
