J.W.Myers Monumental Masons Fulford

In a bold and innovative endeavor, the once-charming old flower shop has undergone a transformation, evolving into a Stone Masons showroom that proudly showcases the exquisite craftsmanship
of J.W. Myers Monumental Masons memorials.

The new interior features tasteful signage and a cityscape of York Minster that reflects the enduring beauty of the stone. As visitors step inside, they are greeted by a captivating display of memorial masterpieces, each meticulously crafted by J.W. Myers.

The old Fulford flower shop has undergone a remarkable exterior update to herald its new identity as J.W. Myers Fulford, proudly showcasing the legacy of monumental craftsmanship. The centerpiece of this transformation is a resplendent swing sign, bearing the iconic insignia of J.W. Myers, that gracefully beckons passersby to explore the world of stone memorials. Window graphics adorn the storefront, seamlessly marrying form and function by offering a glimpse into the artisanal beauty that lies beyond.

A meticulously designed wall ghost sign adds a touch of vintage charm, subtly narrating the storied history of J.W. Myers. Completing the ensemble, fascia signs elegantly crown the façade, harmonizing with the architectural nuances while proclaiming the establishment’s new era.

Fun Fact Friday

Did you know the creation of one of the most iconic and recognisable logos in the world, the Nike swoosh, carries a fascinating story of modest compensation for extraordinary design work.

In 1971, graphic design student Carolyn Davidson was commissioned by Nike co-founder Phil Knight to develop a logo for the emerging sportswear brand. After presenting several options, Knight settled on the simple yet dynamic swoosh design. Surprisingly, the compensation for Davidson’s groundbreaking work amounted to a mere $35. The Nike swoosh has become an enduring symbol of athleticism and excellence, transcending its monetary value to become an integral part of global culture.

While the initial payment may seem minimal, it is important to note
that Knight later acknowledged the underestimation of the logo’s
future significance and, in a gesture of gratitude, gifted
Davidson company stock and other tokens of appreciation.

In a digital age, the allure of print is timeless—a testament to the enduring power of tangible communication. From business cards to billboards, each print piece tells a story, engaging the senses and leaving an indelible mark.

Precision in Every Pixel:
Behind the scenes, the printing process is a symphony of precision and craftsmanship. From file preparation to colour calibration, every detail is meticulously handled to ensure the seamless transition from digital vision to tangible reality.

The Canvas of Possibilities:
What makes printing truly magical is the transformation of ideas into a tangible canvas. The marriage of ink and paper brings designs to life, allowing creativity to leap off the screen and into the hands of those who hold it.

Pressing Forward:
The rhythmic dance of the printing press is a nod to the marriage of technology and tradition. Whether it’s the hum of a digital printer or the rhythmic clank of an offset press, each rotation is a step toward unveiling a visual masterpiece.

Colors Speak Louder:
Colour calibration is the heartbeat of printing, ensuring that every hue resonates authentically. The vibrant gradients, the subtle shades—each color tells a part of the narrative, enhancing the emotional impact of the printed piece.

Beyond Screens:
Print is not just about visuals; it’s an immersive experience that engages touch and sight. In a world saturated with screens, the tactile nature of print stands out, commanding attention and fostering a deeper connection.

Printed Legacies:
As we navigate the digital landscape, let’s not forget the enduring power of the printed word and image. Print pieces become artifacts, leaving a lasting legacy that transcends fleeting digital interactions.

As graphic designers, we know that colour plays a crucial role in shaping the visual identity of a brand or project. Let’s dive into the world of color modes – GMYK, RGB, and Pantones – and understand their unique characteristics from a designer’s perspective!

GMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black):

1)Primarily used for print design.
2) Represents colours through a combination of four ink channels.
3) Important for maintaining colour accuracy in printed materials.
4) Ideal for projects like brochures, business cards, and other physical prints.

RGB (Red, Green, Blue):

1) Designed for digital displays like screens and monitors.
2) Utilizes additive color mixing, where combining red, green, and blue creates
a wide range of colours.
3) Essential for web design, social media graphics, and any visuals
displayed on electronic screens.
4) Perfect for creating vibrant and dynamic digital content.

Pantone Colors:

1) A standardised colour matching system used globally.
2) Each colour is assigned a unique Pantone number for consistency.
3) Widely employed in branding to ensure uniform colour across various media.
4) Great for achieving precise colour matches and maintaining brand integrity.

Understanding when to use each colour mode is crucial for delivering top-notch design work. Mixing these modes requires a thoughtful approach to ensure consistency across both digital and print platforms.

🎄✨ New Work ✨🎁

Thrilled to share that I’ve been commissioned to lead the graphic design work for the Success Charity Christmas Carol Campaign! 🌟 It’s an absolute honor to contribute my skills to such a meaningful cause.

From crafting the pages of their annual Christmas carol concert magazine to designing the festive Raffle tickets aimed at raising funds for this beloved charity, every project is a heartfelt collaboration. 🎨✨

The magic of the Christmas season is not just about decorations and gifts; it’s about coming together to make a positive impact. Working on these projects has been a joy, knowing that each design contributes to spreading Christmas cheer and supporting the incredible initiatives of Success Charity.

I’m excited to see these designs come to life and play a role in bringing people together for a cause that truly matters. 🤝

A big congratulations to all involved what an amazing project to be able to work on. To date I think this probably is my biggest livery design.

I was commissioned be the very talented who themed and converted this old bus in to a fantastic library space for the pupils at Carr School Acomb.

This was a huge task to design the exterior and interior graphics of the bus. Thank you again for my good friends for doing another fantastic installation and wrapping the bus’s to perfection.

Back in 2019 whilst working for Paragon Creative I had the pleasure of creating this small but magical graphic. However big or small the graphic is I always get a sense of joy knowing that hundreds of people will get enjoyment out of the interactives Paragon produced.

Roll onto September 2023 whilst away in Scotland I finally got to see the Whisper Dishes in their final resting place. It was fantastic to see them at Brody Castle and how they have been well looked after all these years later. I was filled with joy to see people off all ages using the Whisper Dishes and having a good old laugh.

Tent Cards & Table Talkers

The Waterfront Cafe in Naburn recently commissioned me to create promotional products to promote their sister venue the Plum & Partridge.

The tent cards have been a great way to pack more information into a small compact product.
