Leopard may be considered a neutral, but not all animal prints are created equal. The undertone and contrast of the print can make a big difference to how harmonious it looks with your colouring.
Warm animal prints tend to feature golden browns, camel, tan, caramel and rich chocolate tones. These are often the classic leopard prints that work beautifully for Spring and Autumn palettes.
Summer palettes are usually complemented by softer, cooler versions of animal print. Look for light greys, taupe, mocha, cocoa and pinky brown tones. Snake prints and subtle leopard prints in grey brown colourways can work particularly well.
Winter palettes suit higher contrast animal prints in cooler, deeper tones. Think charcoal and grey leopard prints, black-and-white zebra prints, and bold patterns with strong contrast rather than warm brown tones.
When choosing animal print, it’s not just about the pattern itself, it’s about the colours within it and this is something that I build into my colour analysis sessions if you're an animal print fan.
