I have a real hard time reconciling a liar.

And when I say a liar, I’m not talking about somebody who heard a piece of something and got the story wrong. I’m not talking about somebody who misunderstood something and repeated it.

I’m talking about somebody who gets up, sits down, and CONCOCTS an entire story about another human being.

Nobody told you.

You didn’t hear it anywhere.

You didn’t see it.

It didn’t happen.

The story came directly out of YOUR head.

I have a very, very hard time reconciling that kind of person.

Because to me, there is something murderous about a deliberate lie.

No, you might not be murdering somebody physically. But you are trying to kill something.

You’re trying to kill their character.
You’re trying to kill their reputation.
You’re trying to kill their spirit.
You’re trying to kill the compassion that other people have for them.

And sometimes your lie can interfere with somebody getting the HELP they actually need.

That is why this Kaylen situation has bothered me so much.

This young lady and her mother have been struggling for YEARS trying to get through her treatment after what happened to her.

Kaylen was a TEENAGER when she became the victim of a horrific attack by grown women.

She was a child.

She deserved to grow up.
She deserved to have a life.
She deserved to have a future.

And I remember when it happened. People were practically pronouncing death over this girl.

But she survived.

She fought.

And when she came forward last year asking for additional help, here came the lies.

“She got millions.”

“Her mother got the money.”

“Her mother did this.”

“Her mother did that.”

And I kept asking myself: WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE GETTING THIS INFORMATION FROM?

Because some of you weren’t getting it from anywhere.

YOU MADE IT UP.

That is the part that makes me angry.

Because did you ever stop to think about what your lie could do?

Suppose somebody was going to donate $20 and saw your comment saying this family already received millions?

Suppose 100 people believed you?

Suppose 1,000 people believed you?

You have now potentially interfered with help reaching somebody who actually needs it.

All because you wanted something to say on the internet.

Do you understand how serious that is?

This morning, hearing that Kaylen is battling another episode really bothered me.

So pardon my absence a little bit this morning because I am angry.

I am angry because this young lady has already fought enough.

And I keep coming back to the same question:

What kind of person sees somebody already struggling, already fighting, already trying to survive — and decides that THIS is the person I am going to manufacture a lie about?

I cannot reconcile it.

I really cannot.

Because lies are not harmless simply because they are made out of words.

Words create beliefs.

Beliefs influence actions.

And actions have consequences.

You don’t know whose $10 you stopped.
You don’t know whose $50 you stopped.
You don’t know whose $500 you stopped.
You don’t know who would have helped but decided not to because they believed something YOU MADE UP.

And that’s why I have such a hard time with deliberate liars.

Because when you KNOW something isn’t true and you deliberately put it into the world anyway, you have made a conscious decision to potentially harm another human being.

And I don’t understand how people sleep comfortably after doing that.

I really don’t.
