I am grieved upon seeing videos and pictures trending on social media about a Policeman who has been shot dead at post, discharging his duty to his beloved country.
I want to believe this gentleman never thought of losing his life when leaving home for work this morning.
Let me send my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
And I hope the perpetrators are apprehended as soon as possible. May his gentle soul rest well.
Some issues need immediate and urgent attention in this country.
It's as if the level of insecurity in this country is getting out of hand, and nothing seems to get better. Just the day before today, someone was shot dead in broad daylight in the Kumasi Metropolis.
So, when will the leaders of this country be serious and concerned about the welfare and security of it's citizens? How much will it cost a country like us to buy bulletproofs for the security service, where politicians enrich themselves in a short period of time after having been into power?
How much will it cost this country, where politicians are paid 6billion old Gh-cedis as ex- gracia after their tenure of office has expired to buy side arms, aside the old AK47 the security service have been using over the past years?
I mean, how much will it cost the government to buy accoutrements to arm the security service?
I am just imagining how horrific and terrible it will be for us as a country when one day we wake up to see terrorists and troops into the country.
Even the arsenals for our security service are all non-current. Most of them had been procured since the era one could even recall.
Our security service, including the investigative department, is so weak to the extent that an MP was shot dead, and to date, there hasn't been any clear apprehension.
So my question is, if an MP could be killed, and up to date no thorough investigation has been carried out to bring the killers to books, how much more can a village boy like myself from Sekyeredumasi be safe.
Utmost security rings no bell in the leadership of the country.
Absolute seriousness and concern for proper security must be a core priority in this 4th republic, as we aspire to reach the heights of world super powers (interms of security enforcement).
Sometimes, I am tempted to believe that our leaders don't care about the citizens.
Thus, it's about time we rise as a country devoid of party colors and affiliations, and fight for our leaders to fix the shortcomings of the country.
Our security is very important to us as citizens if leaders think theirs aren't important.
