KILL ME QUICK V. KILL ME SLOW

I like the way the COVID-19 discussions are going, despite the jokes lacing the facts and "must-knows". Even if we're exaggerating everything about it, we're learning to be careful and safe.

But it will pass just as it came!

What will remain are the hugely ignored food items that are poisoned on a daily basis with chemicals and faecal matter etc, deliberately! We all see these and turn away as though nothing is happening. Those kill and maim more people than COVID-19 can ever dream of.

So let's use the same vim we're using in these times for all times! We create unannounced pandemics every day and the ones that suffer most are the poor and helpless. Now that the rich and privileged are affected too, everyone is running to halt a virus!

Let's kill the virus of poverty, inequality, selfishness, illiteracy, hypocrisy, tribalism, nepotism and all their negative brothers and sisters. Everyone deserves to live a decent life!

LIFE'S HASSLE

Life is bigger than money or any other property. Yet we need money to live. The Akans believe money that satisfies anyone comes to them without they necessarily looking for it. What I get in that proverb is that when you go looking for money to make you happy, no amount will be enough, no matter what.

In my short life on earth thus far, I find that gratitude makes people happier than anything else. What happens to all of us is that we're quick to forget any help that came our way as soon as we believe we "have arrived". It happens to people big and small. Some start feeling they are gods and act accordingly.

That's why the ancient Romans kept reminding victorious generals, through a slave, "Remember, you are mortal". This happened when they were paraded through the streets when they came home triumphant from battles. It was a reality check on them so they don't self-destruct.

The platitude of political, social or religious oratory abound in life. They can keep us all from the realities of life. It's our choice what we do with it.
