MERIDIAN SEEDS - INTRODUCTION

To meridian seed, agribusinesses transformation in Africa begins with quality seeds. Inspired by the potential of the seeds industry in Ghana, our founder Aaron Attefa Ampofo made a bold transition from working as USAID project technical staff to establish Meridian Seeds and Nurseries Ghana Limited (Meridian Seeds) 2009. The company started as a seed retail business

in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region of Ghana 2010, and subsequently entered into seed production 2012 through the support of Alliance for Green Revolution Africa (AGRA, PASS program). Today meridian seeds operate from Ghana’s capital city Accra as a seed marketing company sourcing high performing planting materials (seeds and seedlings) for distribution in Ghana and along the West African sub-region. We are inspired by the fact that; agribusiness presents Africa a unique opportunity to transform its economies and create jobs for the youth. Our mission is bringing agribusiness solutions to farmers. These solutions (high yield, better quality products, climate resilient, pest & diseases tolerance etc.) are embedded in the products and services we offer. Presenting these solutions to farmers means:
1. Investing in business-to-business relationships with local and multinational suppliers.
2. Investing in research and innovations that produces marketable yields and that provide a unique fit to the fast-changing weather conditions and the associated pest and diseases pressures.
