DR. C.K. AMEHOE RETIRES

Ho Technical University has honoured Dr. Christopher Kwasi Amehoe as he retires after over a decade of dedicated service as Registrar. Following Mr. David Dzontoh in 2015, Dr. Amehoe led the transition from Polytechnic to University, leaving a legacy of excellence, accountability, and transformation. Following his retirement, Dr. Michael Todoko has been appointed as Acting Registrar until the University Council appoints a substantive Registrar.

HTU SRC SPEAKER TUMBLE

Daniel Arthur Akakpo, the initial Speaker of the 7th Parliament of the 32nd Administration (2025/2026), resigned after one month in office. The SRC President nominated the former Second Deputy Speaker of the 6th Parliament, Mark Bless Dormevenu, as the New Speaker of the 7th Parliament. Although Speaker Akakpo has left the Office, his legacy still reigns in the leadership of Speaker Dormevenu.

Emmanuel Offei Obeng, the SRC External Affairs Committee Chair, was elected First Deputy Speaker of the 6th Parliament. His successor, Sedem Johnson, also ascended from that same committee chairmanship to be elected First Deputy Speaker of the 7th Parliament. This repeated path establishes a direct route from leading a key SRC committee to securing the deputy speakership, raising the question: Is the External Affairs Committee now the definitive source for Deputy Speakers at HTU?

Faith Nmaju, a BSc Marketing with IT (Top-Up) student, made history as the first from her department to become SRC Speaker of Parliament, serving in the 6th Parliament of HTU's 31st SRC (2024/2025). Her successor, Daniel Arthur Akakpo, also offering the same programme, became Speaker of the 7th Parliament in the 32nd Administration (2025/2026). Notably, both previously held roles as Deputy Speaker and Speaker of the PROMAGS House of Marketers. With this, we ask: Is Marketing now the source of Speakers at HTU?

HTU SRC 7TH PARLIAMENT LEADERS

On Friday, 23rd January 2026, the 7th Parliament of the 32nd HTU SRC held its inaugural sitting, during which Rt. Hon. Daniel Arthur Akakpo was sworn in as Speaker. He is supported by Hon. Sedem Johnson (First Deputy Speaker), Hon. Jarden Deladem Koomson-Giraldo (Second Deputy Speaker), Hon. Samuel Kweku Azaglo (Leader of Voting Members), Hon. Daniel Dahome (Leader of Non-Voting Members), Miss Veronica Lily Asare (Clerk), and Miss Marlene Nafisata Gakoi (Deputy Clerk).

7TH HTU SRC PARLIAMENT TO HOLD FIRST SITTING ON JAN 23

The 7th Parliament of the 32nd Administration of the HTU SRC is scheduled to hold its 1st / inaugural sitting on Friday, 23rd Jan 2026, at 8:00 AM at the SRC JCR Hall. As mandated by the SRC Constitution, the sitting will mark the official commencement of parliamentary business and focus on the formation of all SRC leadership structures, including the approval of a new Speaker and Chief Justice, the formation of the Judicial Board, Audit Committee, Electoral Commission, and other statutory committees. All nominations by the SRC President will be subject to the approval of the House.

HTU'S 2025/2026 CALENDER

Ho Technical University’s 2025/2026 first semester begins January 8 for fresh and continuing students. A packed schedule includes orientation, lectures, mid-semester and final exams from March 21–April 12. Key dates: matriculation on February 20 and a tentative second-semester report date of April 25. The 14-week semester breaks down to 10 weeks of teaching, 1 revision, 3 exams. More updates to follow on Voice of HTU !!
