Police Officers In Uniform Drinking Alcoholic Beverage (PHOTOS)

30-Oct-2014

The Police Administration has pledged to sanction two police officers seen in photos drinking alcoholic beverages, which have gone viral on social media.

According to the police, the conduct of the two officers flouts the code of conduct of the service. Section 82 of CI 76, which is the Police Service Regulations of 2012, classifies drinking alcohol on duty as an offence.

The Regulations in CI 76 categorise the offences into minor and major offences.

Minor offences attract deferment of salary increment, stoppage of increment and reprimanding personnel; for major offences, personnel may be dismissed, removed and reduced in rank.

Director of Police Public Affairs, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Reverend Nenyi Ampah-Bennin disclosed this to 'The Finder' in response to what action the administration would take against such officers.

He announced that the Police Administration has mounted a search to identify the two police officers and sanction them accordingly. Weeks ago, a photo of a policeman in police uniform busily drinking at a place that looks like a ‘chop bar’ went viral on social media.

The officer, with insignia which has three chevrons on his sleeves, indicating the rank of Sergeant, was sitting by a table that has a bottle of 'Joy Daddy Bitters' and a bottle of Guinness, both alcoholic drinks.

Also on the table were three bowls, with one containing soup.

His left hand was holding a glass filled to the brim with a liquid like the colour of Guinness.

The second photo shows a policewoman in uniform with the insignia of one chevron, signifying Lance Corporal, who was busily drinking from a blue cup. On the table in front of her is a bottle of Joy Daddy Bitters, an alcoholic drink, and a can of energy drink.

DCOP Ampah-Bennin explained that junior officers on leave are expected to return their uniforms to the service, and when on retirement their uniforms are returned as well. He said smoking on duty and entering a place licensed for the sale of liquor when on duty, except when one’s presence is required there in the ex*****on of duty, were categorised as minor offences.

He explained that the Police Service Regulation states that it is an offence to drink alcoholic beverage while on duty.

Fiesta Condoms Billboard Sparks Chaos

21-Aug-2014

A new Fiesta Condoms billboard in Kumasi in the Ashanti region is causing chaos on social media.

The billboard which was erected on August 19, has become the talk of town as it displays a hot half-naked lady in a black apparel in a strip tease pose.

Reports say residents of the Garden City are angry with the image which they argue is an affront to Ghana’s cultural values.

A Facebook post by an angry resident read: “I think NANANOMS must call for an immediate removal of this vile billboard, and the advertisers severely rebuked for this moral depravity. If not, it would embolden the advertisers to next time take a step forward to mount a more bigger billboard of having *X with at KEJETIA or at the Kumasi Central market.”

Another wrote: “Yes, it's a condom ad but it appears too hot. I am not moral but this ad seems indecent to me. It's got drivers and the wood workers around the area talking since it was mounted.”

Ghana’s advertising laws frowns on nudity but it is unclear if the billboard has violated any of such laws. The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly is, however, yet to comment on the development.

“If You Can’t Help Us Don’t Stand In Public and Ask Who Said ‘Twiaaaa’” - Sarkodie Tells Prez John Mahama

21-Aug-2014

After dropping ‘Free Press’ from his mixtape, which is still making headlines for its controversial take on Ghanaian media, Sarkodie goes political on this new track titled "inflation".

The song talks about some serious national issues and other things that aren't going on well in Ghana.

In the song Sarkodie took to President John Mahama asking him to concentrate on the falling Cedi, fuel shortages, exorbitant increases in fuels prices, high cost of electricity, and bad road networks among other basic relevant issues.

Sarkodie said we all know President Mahama is a good communicator and gentleman but he should keep quite if he doesn't have anything to say and he shouldn't make fun of Ghanaians in public.

“If you can’t help us don’t stand in public and ask who said ‘Twiaaaa’”, Sarkodie raps in a line of the song.
