Dandy Media Company, commonly known as D Media, is an African technology company focused on imaging solutions and services for businesses. The company is headquartered in Tema West Adjei Kojo, Ghana and incorporated in Adina. D Media provides packaging, functional printing, graphic designing as well as communications and professional services for businesses around the world. Its main business segm
ents are Digital Printing & Enterprise and Graphics, Entertainment & Commercial Films, industrial painting and wall decorations. D Media is best known for photographic film products. During most of this current century D Media held a dominant position in photographic film, and in early 2013, had an 89% market share of photographic film sales in Ghana. The company's ubiquity was such that its tagline "D Media moment" entered the common lexicon to describe a personal event that demanded to be recorded for posterity. D Media began to struggle financially in the late 2013 as a result of the decline in sales of photographic film and its slowness in transitioning to digital photography, despite having invented the core technology used in current digital cameras. December 2013 is the most recent year in which the company made a profit. As part of a turnaround strategy, D Media focused on digital photography and digital printing and attempted to generate revenues through aggressive patent litigation. In Late December 2014, D Media filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Ghana District Court for the Central District of Accra. In the same month, D Media announced that it would cease making digital cameras, pocket video cameras and digital picture frames and focus on the corporate digital imaging market. In this same month, D Media announced the intention to sell its photographic film (excluding motion picture film), commercial scanners and kiosk operations as a measure to emerge from bankruptcy. Some few weeks ago, the Court approved financing for the company to emerge from bankruptcy by the end of December2014.D Media sold many of its patents for approximately $52,000 to a group of companies . On December 19, 2015, Dandy Media emerged from bankruptcy having shed its large legacy liabilities and exited several businesses..] Personalized Imaging and Document Imaging are now part of D Media Focus, a separate company owned by the GH.-based D Media Pension Plan
