The New Patriotic Party's Leadership Must Prioritize Unity Over Internal Contests. The New Patriotic Party, renowned for its commitment to ideas, discipline, and unity, has always been the bastion of leadership, stability, and democratic values that Ghanaians look up to. It is utterly disconcerting and unacceptable that internal teams within the party are presently engaging in open contests that foster distrust and jeopardize the unity that is the party's cornerstone. Politics is essentially a contest of ideas, not a factional war. When internal teams begin to prioritize personal or group interests over the collective goal of the party, it is not the opposition that suffers, but the party itself. 1. Unity is the NPP's Greatest Strength. From Danquah to Busia, to Kufuor and Akufo-Addo, the NPP's success at the polls has been a direct result of its unified stance. A divided house cannot stand, and when party members expend more energy fighting internally than engaging the opposition and addressing Ghana's problems, it sends a wrong signal to voters seeking responsible leadership.
2. Distrust Weakens the Party Ahead of 2028. Elections are won on the foundation of a united front, from polling station executives to national executives, and from the youth to the women's wing. Team contests that degenerate into suspicion, backbiting, and sabotage only serve to create apathy among the party base, causing volunteers who should be actively engaged to sit idle - a luxury the NPP cannot afford. This scenario is reminiscent of the recently concluded constituency elections in Wa Central, where the former parliamentary candidate was found campaigning for a team, which is unwarranted. 3. The NPP Transcends Any Team or Individual. No team owns the NPP, and no individual is superior to the party. Our constitution, traditions, and values must take precedence. Internal competition should serve to sharpen us, not break us. Once primaries or elections are over, winners and losers must unite immediately for the larger objective. Therefore, I appeal to all aspirants in the forthcoming regional elections to be mindful of their choice of words.
What Needs to be Done. Leadership Must Intervene Decisively. National, regional, and constituency executives must call all factions to order and enforce the party's code uniformly.

*Wa Central Needs Accountability, Not Empty Promises*

The Member of Parliament for Wa Central Constituency has represented the area since 2005. As a son of the soil, he has built his political career on the back of the Constitution, with a focus on education, development, and personal advancement.

Election after election, constituents have renewed his mandate. Voting patterns have often been shaped by ethnicity, religion, and, at times, by political messaging that does not always align with reality.

The most recent test came on 7th December 2024. Seeking another term, the MP campaigned heavily on youth employment. More than a year later, there is little to show for it. Across the five major communities in the Wa Metropolis, it is difficult to point to 20 young people who have directly benefited from those promises.

For a constituency with so much potential, this falls short. If we are to move forward, Wa Central must demand accountability, scrutinize campaign promises, and reject the cycle of political rhetoric without results.

It is time for the people to sit up, think critically, and vote for leadership that delivers, not just for one election cycle, but for the long-term growth of the constituency.
