He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), CIPFA-certified, and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). His academic and professional foundation is strengthened by expertise in financial modelling, IFRS compliance, risk assessment, and advanced financial systems including QuickBooks, Xero, Oracle, and ERP.

With over seven years of experience across government, banking, shipping, and audit sectors, Modou brings a well-rounded perspective to financial management and advisory work. His career spans key roles within public finance institutions, the banking sector, and regulatory environments, where he contributed to financial control, auditing, budgeting, revenue management, and strategic financial planning.

Maya is a seasoned communications expert with over a decade of experience in government communications, media, digital marketing, and public affairs. She has previously served at the Office of the Vice President, Ministry of Finance, Department of Information Services, and Ministry of Higher Education, strengthening public engagement, institutional visibility, and national communications strategies.

A storyteller with purpose, Maya holds a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Digital Media (Magna Cum Laude, top of her class) and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of The Gambia. Her creativity, professionalism, and results-driven approach will help amplify voices, shape narratives, and drive a bold vision for higher education in The Gambia.
