I run two businesses, a marketing business and a PT business, and the older I get, the more they look like the same job with different equipment.
Marketing costs in Ireland are up 44.4% since 2023. Most businesses haven't clocked it because it crept up a few percent at a time, not all at once. Similar to a training plateau: nobody wakes up plateaued, they just keep doing the same programme for two years and wonder why nothing's changed.
More weight on a bad exercise doesn't fix the exercise. More budget on a channel that was never converting doesn't fix the channel. It just makes the bad decision more expensive.
The fix isn't "spend less," same as it's (almost) never "show up to the gym less." It's knowing which exercise is actually building something before you load more weight onto the bar, and which platform to focus on before you waste a heap of cash on the wrong one.
If you haven't actually looked at where your marketing spend goes since 2023, not since last week, that's worth 20 minutes before you set a Q4 budget you're guessing at.
