Lazy snail is a creative agency of converging expertise areas specialising in visual identity.

Lazy snail is an awarded branding agency with offices in Copenhagen, Denmark and Heraklion, Greece. It was founded in 2004 and is co-owned by Greek graphic designer Ioanna Drakaki Weylandt and Danish photographer Jannik Weylandt. This is why we first identify the opportunity for our clients and then translate it into brand strategy that serves as a guide for, and link between, naming, visual identity, photography and communication design. Buddy & Blu was designed to work, across shelves, SKUs, formats, and four languages.

The system needed to stay clear, flexible, and recognisable, without becoming noisy.

Hierarchy, legibility, and regulatory details all had to sit neatly inside a minimal packaging world. The result is a disciplined brand system with room to grow, calm on pack, strong on shelf, and ready for many more bowls to come.

For Buddy & Blu, we built a visual world that feels clean, healthy, and easy to trust.

A bright neutral base builds credibility, while clear colour coding helps pet owners navigate dogs, cats, and life stages across the range.
At the centre, the oversized “B” gives the brand strong shelf presence: simple, bold, and easy to spot.

Insect protein is part of the innovation, but we kept the message reassuring. Less “new science experiment”, more healthy, digestible, sustainable food for pets we love.

Buddy & Blu began with a small, meaningful challenge: how do you name a new generation of sustainable pet nutrition?

Buddy brings the dog energy, loyal, lively, always close by.
Blu carries the cat side, calm, elegant, quietly intuitive.

Together, they feel like a modern pet family.

The logo follows the same idea: soft curves, confident type, and a subtle nod to healthy noses. A little detail for vitality, care, and all the good sniffing ahead.

EBGE AWARDS 2026 🐌

Lazy snail Design received a Merit at the EBGE Awards 2026 in the “Logo Design for Large & Mid-Sized Brands” category for the identity created for Alexa of London.

Designed as a yacht seen from above, the logotype is paired with a soft, nature-inspired palette and playful visual assets, shaping a contemporary identity with a refined maritime character.

A closer look at the object design behind the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum kit.

Inspired by the way children once carried their schoolbooks tied with a leather belt during the mid-20th century, we designed the kit as a hybrid between a book and a small suitcase, an object meant to be opened, explored and discovered.

Inside, five thematic guides unfold different facets of Kazantzakis’ life and thought: The Writer • The Human • The Cretan • The Traveller • The Intellectual

Some time ago, the Μουσείο Καζαντζάκη - Kazantzakis Museum approached us to co-develop and design the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum Educational Kit, a traveling educational case: a set of objects, stories and activities that bring the essence of Kazantzakis’ world into classrooms across Greece and beyond.

Today the project has received an Award in the Branding and Communication Design category.

A true team effort: from the museum’s curators and educators to our Lazy snail team. Thank you to everyone involved.

Founded in 1983, the Museum celebrates the life and legacy of the world-renowned author Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957). Best known for works such as Zorba the Greek, The Greek Passion, Freedom or Death, The Last Temptation of Christ, and Report to Greco, his writing has travelled widely, translated into more than 50 languages and adapted for theatre, cinema, radio and television.
