Visual Voices | Brand Strategy & Identity Design | (i.)

Brand strategy & visual identity system created for Visual Voices , a photography studio based in Hong Kong specialising in producing minimal, artistic & commercial photography. Founded by the chief photographer Winnie Yeung, Visual Voices has the philosophy to embrace the power of imagery, let the visual voices.

Taken the initial letter “W” of the founder as the foundation of the core logo concept, the letter W is further divided into two letter V, which literally is the abbreviation of the brand name. Simply surround the designed letter "W" with a circle to denote as the focal point of an imagery, the icon is made to be bold and classy, which echo with the brand philosophy of make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

Located in Central, Hong Kong, daap offers creative and fusion dishes, and takes a good balance to craft a brand new tasting experience. Like the story behind the name “daap” , which comes from the pronunciation [daap1] of the Chinese character "嗒" that refers to the process of experience taste.

Based on the concept of tasting and experiencing, Welvermind has crafted a minimal visualization with the art direction of using gradient to develop the whole identity system. When the color slowly changes, that is exactly where the beauty of gradient is, what’s more that also echo with the core value of daap that taste changes accordingly and gradually while experiencing.

Following the direction of minimal yet playful & cheesy, content-wise, Welvermind has consolidated a brand tone with a set of wordplay to bring up the brand’s DNA of combing local & cultural context. From the daap-finition to the daap-ness & daap-th,that linguistic approach daap-finitly bring readers back to the core brand idea.

The more you daap, the deeper you get. It’s all about the daap-th.

椒椒相見 Double Chilli, launched in Hong Kong during the spicy-hot summer of 2021, offers the most authentic Sichuan cuisines. Unlike any other traditional Chinese restaurant, Double Chilli, with the homophone wordplay Chinese naming, has clearly set a statement of boldness of being extraordinary.

Welvermind projects the brand’s playfulness further, louder and spicier by crafting a set of authentic visual identity & art direction.

Thinking Double Chilli as a hybrid intersection lies within the contrast of the modernised funkiness versus the traditional spiciness; the brand experience has been introduced as a time capsule spicy journey, where Double Chilli is the entrance of where it all begins. A vibrant graphic of the ancient Chinese door with handles & decors has been created, and applied as the brand key visual. The highly-saturated art direction aims to maximise the cheesy impression by transforming all the classic design details into its simplest form.

To strengthen and achieve a cohesive brand image, we have extended the brand visual identity to both digital and print applications including stickers, signage, t-shirts, menu, leaflet, packaging and to the digital templates.
