“Our goal is to make Côte d’Ivoire the entertainment hub of Africa.”
Hon. Siandou Fofana, Minister of Tourism of Côte d’Ivoire, shared his vision for the country’s rapidly evolving tourism sector as part of our upcoming Special Country Report, to be published with Fortune.
Driven by the “Sublime Côte d’Ivoire” strategy, tourism now contributes 8.7% of national GDP and has generated 560,000 jobs since 2021. Already Africa’s third-largest business tourism destination, the country is now targeting a place among the continent’s top five tourist destinations.
Building on the success of AFCON 2023, Côte d’Ivoire is attracting global events and major investments in hospitality, medical tourism, and the creative industries, with the ambition of generating two million jobs by 2030.
We sincerely thank Minister Fofana for his time and valuable insights. Stay tuned for more from our upcoming special edition.
