I recently learnt that NOT all businesses can concisely present their business to their customers, or even investors. I am not talking about a brand-able image or leaving ‘wow’ impressions, I AM talking about the fundamentals, the foundation, the basics. Websites that leave people confused, social media campaigns that scare people away. I would like to take the opportunity to revisit some basic elements that help every business set up a solid foundation before growing into fruition, in both the local market, and settling in a new market.
Develop a unique value proposition, a one-sentence statement (Content)
To clearly express, one needs to first understand thyself.
The value proposition should consist of elements that solve the following questions:
- What does your brand care about? (What you do)
- What your audience also care about? (Why should people care)
- Unique edge and perspective (Why you?)
Preparing a one-sentence statement would help position the brand precisely, and could help your audience understand more about your brand.
Communicate the statement CLEARLY using appropriate channels of distribution
Websites, EDMs, blogs, social media. These are the foundations to grow your online presence.
For both B2B or B2C businesses, these channels are very essential to get in touch with your clients and prospects.
Theoretically, brands should be able to give people the correct impression and set the right tone. Your audience should easily understand the messages you are trying to convey.
Therefore, tailoring content towards specific channels of distributions makes your clients like you more.
Let people learn more about you! (Marketing)
What is your user experience? What value can you provide? Where will you take your leads?
Your audience wants to know more, but what do you have to give?
Do you have a membership system so that people can get in touch?
Build an effective online funnel so that your leads don’t get lost in the middle.
