Information on Goole searches and algorithms used in SEO:

🔹 15% of searches Google sees every day are entirely new.

🔹 Search runs on hundreds of algorithms and machine learning models.

🔹 Each algorithm and model has a specialized role, and they trigger at different times.

🔹 Some of Google more advanced systems play a more prominent role than others.

Here are the major AI systems running in Google Search today, and what they do:

♦️ RankBrain (2015) : First AI system used by Google, which helped the firm understands how words relate to concepts.

♦️ Neural matching (2018) : Used to better understand how queries relate to pages.

♦️ BERT (2019) : Relates to natural language understanding, this algorithm understands words in a sequence and how they relate to each other.

♦️ MUM (2021) : A thousand times more powerful than BERT. It can understand information across multiple modalities such as text, images and more in the future.

🏆 - Google Hong Kong revealed Year in Search 2021, with the government’s economic stimulus “Registration for Consumption Voucher Scheme” ranking first as the “Top Trending Keywords” of 2021.

🏊 Apart from updates on the pandemic, Hongkongers were keen to learn about the OIympics and their favourite athletes, with Hong Kong swimmer and Olympic silver medalist “Siobhan Bernadette Haughey” taking the first spot on the newly released “Top Trending Athletes” chart this year.

💰 Financial investment was also top of mind. “iBond 2021”, the inflation-linked retail bond launched by the government, ranked first on this year’s “Top Trending Finance News” chart. People also searched for financial information related to the technology sector or fintech, such as “Bitcoin price”, “Kuaishou”, “GME”, “Tesla”, and “NFT” (non-fungible token).

‎‍🎤 In entertainment and pop culture, local boy band received the biggest hype this year, as shown in Google Trends. “Anson Lo”, “MIRROR” and “Keung To” made it into the top spots of this year’s “Top Trending Entertainment Celebrities (Local)”.

🦑 As for drama series and shows, global sensation “Squid Game” and ViuTV’s adaptation of the television rom-com “Ossan’s Love” took the top two spots on this year’s “Top Trending Shows” chart.
