【日本砲兵相集，1940-1943年 - 互動地圖】
1941年12月，四萬多名日軍官兵參加了入侵香港的行動。今日，由於只有少數人留下了關於自身經歷的紀錄，我們對他們所知有限。「1941香港戰役空間史研究計劃」團隊於2021年獲得了一本曾經參加香港戰役的日軍砲兵的相集，內容關於他自1940年到達廣東，參與香港戰役，然後轉戰呂宋，再於1943年到黑龍江駐紮的經歷。研究計劃將其經歷製作成互動地圖，連結於此：https://digital.lib.hkbu.edu.hk/history/jpgunner/index.php?lang=tc

[Photo Album of a Japanese Gunner, 1940-1943 - EP0] In December 1941, over 40,000 Japanese officers and men took part in the invasion of Hong Kong. We know relatively little about these men as only a few had left anything about their experience in the war.
In 2021, the research team of the "Battle of Hong Kong 1941: A Spatial History Project" obtained a photo album previous owned by a Japanese gunner who had participated in the battle. 【消息】因應歐洲緊張局勢，英國重啟樸茨茅夫港外的巴麥尊要塞群*，國防部表示將考慮向紅磡黃埔花園購買在黃埔號旁展出的9吋12噸前裝來福線砲**將之安裝在要塞群，並考慮配備布倫南魚雷***以阻嚇核潛艇。

* 巴麥尊要塞群建於1865至1880年，以防備法、俄兩國對樸茨茅夫海軍基地的威脅。要塞群以1850年代決定建築這些要塞的英國首相巴麥尊命名。這些要塞在第二次世界大戰時曾被改建使用，部份至近年成為酒店。

** 9吋12噸前裝來福線砲是香港最大的前裝來福線砲，現存有一門在黃埔號旁，火砲於工程時在海底撈起，應屬於1880年代的東九龍砲台，或是從皇家海軍中國艦隊的鐵甲艦拆卸下來。

[News] In view of the tensions in Europe, UK decides to recommission the Palmerston Forts* off Portsmouth. MOD suggests buying back a RML 9-inch 12-ton gun** currently being displayed at Whampoa Garden, Hung Hom, Hong Kong. Brenan torpedo stations*** will also be recommissioned to deter potential enemies' nuclear submarines.

* From 1865 to 1880, to deter potential French and Russian attacks, a string of sea forts were built at the mouth of Portsmouth. They were named after Palmerston, the Prime Minister who ordered these forts to be built. The forts were reused during World War II and some of them became hotels recently.

** 9-inch 12-ton RML was the largest Rifled Breech Loader used in Hong Kong. One of these guns is now displayed at Whampoa Garden; the gun was likely one of the guns of the Kowloon East Battery or one of the ironclads of the China Station.

*** Brennan torpedoes were used in Hong Kong during the 1890s. The torpedo station is now part of the Museum of Coastal Defence.

1941年11月, 加拿大政府應英國要求，派了二千名加軍前往香港增援及預計執行較簡單的防守任務，以震懾日本在太平洋的野心。

但既然執行一個如此簡單的任務，為何加拿大卻偏偏為此而派上了當時被譽為為「加拿大機動化之父」的羅遜准將前往香港作指揮任務？而加拿大亦是不是如我們所理解的一樣兩團只是作戰經驗及訓練較淺的第三等「因先前任務或缺乏訓練而不適合調動」部隊？

在2021年12月19號這天，作為香港戰役及羅遜準將殉職80周年紀念。我們Live-Thing. History及 Badges Story很榮幸邀請到『孤獨前哨 太平洋戰爭中的香港戰役』的作者鄺智文博士及蔡耀倫老師, 為大家送上一個全新並且從來沒有在書本上提及的題目—— “Hong Kong: Canada’s First Battle in WW2”

而在這個題目裏，我們和蔡耀倫老師會透過戰前加拿大政府從準備工作到羅遜準將的日記等等，深入淺出為大家講解加拿大派出部隊前往香港的因由及準備工作等等。而鄺智文博士更會利用「1941年香港戰役空間史研究計劃」的互動地圖，為大家利用這些全新資料及技術分享香港戰役作為加軍在整場二戰的第一次作戰的表現分析令讀者重新理解加拿大於香港戰役的角色及定位。

【香港戰役圖錄】為紀念1941年香港戰役八十週年，研究計劃將於2021年12月8日至26日逐日上載多張與香港戰役相關的罕見照片，部份為首次披露，並於其後上載到互動地圖的「戰爭影像」部份。

[The Battle in Rare Photos] This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Hong Kong. To commemorate the victims of the war, the Battle of Hong Kong Spatial History Project will release a series of rare photos of the battle in the following eighteen days; some of these photo are first-shown in public. They will be later uploaded to the "Images of War" section of the interactive web map.
