We had a great visit from the PeaceCYCLE staff last week. We had lots of fun getting to show them a bit of the process behind their shirts, and it turns out they're all excellent screen printers! Thanks for stopping in.

Yesterday we went on our field trip to Seed Apparel Haiti. We all loaded in the back of a truck (tap tap, with benches on each side of the truck bed) and hired the driver to take us on this short journey and back...... what should be a brief 30-45 minute commute (because of traffic not distance, it's only about 6 miles) took us well over 4 hours. As the staff continued to sit in the back all together, we visited and enjoyed one another's company. But there is still a disgust in being stuck in traffic for hours going NO WHERE! (stand still traffic). We posed the question: What do you suppose the cause is of this traffic? One response was the evening's soccer game Haiti vs Nicaragua, so they were closing off some streets...... but the overwhelming answer was, "the trash" - as we look out the back of the truck, we see piles and piles of trash. It has been raining lately and all of the trash comes down into the city and piles up. Can you imagine how the infrastructure of this city is completely adjusted when piles of trash block of lanes of what should be traffic? Well, it happens, and often! Our staff, who was once oblivious to this reality is starting to notice, and they want things to change! The discussion all together stuck in the back of the truck for hours was all about how the drains are blocked, the trash piles up, and we need to do something about it!

So proud of these people and how they are growing in knowledge and getting excited to change things in their country.
