My journey with computers started when I was only six years old. From games and chat I progressed towards more creative and engaging activities. By the time I was 16 I had purchased my own computer and was trying my very best to teach myself all I could. Quickly I found out that there was Something… Something so great that, although I didn’t know it at the time, was going to change my life. This s
omething was Photoshop and I spent countless days and nights learning all it had to offer. Soon I realized this was the path I wanted to follow when choosing my future career. I left school with sufficient skills to get my first job as a graphic designer. It felt good, I have to admit. I was shortly promoted and put in charge of a small team. Together we did a great job of fulfilling our clients’ needs. We were a great team. I felt sorry when the time came for me to leave to progress my career. My next job introduced me to software design, icons, box shots, vectors and so much more. It all felt so engaging and interesting. I spent the next two years in this job gaining experience until I decided that I wanted and needed a qualification in Interactive Multimedia Design. Without hesitation, I took the opportunity to move to Scotland where I lived and studied for the next three years. After spending two years attending Moray College I gained my degree and starting working for The Moray Council as a graphic designer in the print room to gain more experience. Whilst in Scotland I met my future wife and soon we moved to Hungary where we married. I found employment at ArtCentrum where I met some wonderful people. They were very open minded and I became part of the team in no time. We worked on a number of great portal designs building them from the ground up. At its core the job required great patience and determination. ur partners set tight deadlines and they were extremely meticulous, workwise. Every pixel counted as a standalone project. Seriously, it was crazy but in a good way as it enhanced my art direction skills to a new level. I am insanely critical of my own work, but it’s worth the pain. You know what they say, no pain no gain. After two years with ArtCentrum, I was offered a new position in a Google and Facebook related company. I had always wanted to know more about these two giants, how they work, what they achieved and how this could benefit any company. It was a challenge, I was an average user of both platforms. It was time for a level up! It was a great experience connecting businesses with people, scaling up a business from nothing to a company that now makes millions. Seeing how a simple advert can convert clicks to customers and customers to money. The company started to move towards bigger brands. We had a great team of creative people and felt that we could handle any challenge. We deserved a slice from that cake. It was a rewarding journey, worth all the pain, all the extra hours and all the weekends working hard to achieve our clients’ goal. We delivered fast, we delivered well. I am now looking forward to a new challenge, a new journey. My passion won’t end, won’t stop. Design is my magic carpet around the world, it’s my playground and the next big adventure is just around the corner…
