I used to think my two career paths would never intersect.
That one would make me money…
And the other would be my creative outlet.
Coming out of design school, I went straight into game design.
I loved it,but I was being paid peanuts. And I didn’t want to be another broke creative convincing myself passion was enough.
So I made a sharp left turn.
I moved to the middle of nowhere in Australia and started knocking on doors—selling lighting and solar panels to farmers.
No brand decks.
No aesthetics.
No safety net.
Just raw, real conversations.
And that’s where everything changed.
Because when you’re face-to-face with someone deciding whether to spend thousands of dollars—you learn very quickly:
→ What people actually care about
→ What makes them trust you
→ What makes them say yes (or walk away)
It wasn’t just sales.
It was human psychology in its most unfiltered form.
Now, years later, those two paths have collided.
Design gave me the ability to build.
Sales taught me what actually converts.
And that combination? That’s the difference between brands that look good… and brands that perform.
At my new global agency Kiln (to be released very soon), this is exactly what we do.
We don’t just design brands.
We build complete converting systems and presence around what people actually buy into.
If your brand looks strong, but isn’t converting the way it should - there’s always a reason.
And it’s rarely just “design.”
If you’re ready to uncover what’s really not working, send me a message or comment “KILN” and I’ll walk you through it.
