Mogul is a burger joint selling high-quality burgers made fresh, from bun to patty, everyday. The overall branding of Mogul Burger needed to move away from something with an overly sophisticated or premium impression to resonate with the Jakarta market. Our branding approach revolves around the Monstrous Gulper character we developed. As such, the brand’s overall visual style takes on a more bold, pop, and witty approach to complement the creature, taking cues from American comic elements.

Where many competing Indonesian cosmetics brands tended to lean into the heritage approach, From This Island instead found its brand foundations grounded in Indonesia’s rich biodiversity. With product lines developed from hero ingredients sourced from Indonesia, the brand is positioned as “rooted in nature, powered by science,” framing ‘Indonesian beauty secrets’ as blending powerful local ingredients with science-driven formulas. Logo is a refinement of an existing mark owned by the brand. While the overall visual direction is taking cues from botanical journals by highlighting the hero ingredients and balanced with an illustration that is sleek and modern, the result is a brand book and packaging system that speak that “naturally scientific” language.

As part of our branding of the adidas Indonesia office in Jakarta, we created a large mural, Street Wear Meets Street Food, for their Kitchen Hub; highlighting Indonesian street food favorites, ever present in Indonesian daily life. The illustration showcases a lively Indonesian street food scene, bustling stalls, unique pushcarts, coffee vendors on bike, people eating on the street, and vibrant signages that feature some adidas household names.

The new adidas Indonesia office features 10 phonebooths for added privacy. As part of the office branding, we designed five different batik motifs by infusing adidas brand elements to liven up these phonebooths. The five batik motives we adapted are Batik Ceplok Purbonegoro, Batik Bulu Hayam, Batik Tumpal & Floral, Batik Pagi Sore, and Batik Tiga Garis.

With their relocation to Menara Astra, adidas Indonesia needed a cohesive office branding to tie the space together. While adidas has existing workplace branding guidelines, said parameters gives room for localization of artworks and environmental graphic design in accordance with the culture and locality if the city in which its located. So, the challenge at hand was clear: how do we infuse Indonesian and Jakartan locality without losing the spirit of adidas? With Bhineka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) as our overarching theme, our approach to the office branding played with multiple techniques: from carving, pattern, illustrations, painting, to weaving.

Upon entry to the office, Indonesian scripts, or aksara, adorning the walls of the lobby and waiting area catch the eye. We carefully transliterated “adidas” into 7 Indonesian aksara to create this graphic, subtly emphasizing a localized adidas brand to every visitor. Also there to welcome visitors and the team alike is the pair of custom ondel-ondel, large puppet figures in Betawi folk performances characteristic of the archipelago’s capital city, embellished with the adidas logo and iconic three stripes.
