The first days of Ramadan always feel different. Alhamdulillah for the chance to witness it up close and to capture it with intention and heart. What I do doesn’t quite fit into the box of a job, and it’s more than just a hobby. I’m not even sure what to call it. I just know I feel incredibly grateful to be able to do it. Shot on the Hasselblad X2D with the Thypoch 75mm lens. Masjid Istiqlal, Jakarta.

I’ll be honest, this one didn’t quite hit the way I imagined.

Wet, cloudy, humid, and tricky interior lighting made it a challenging shoot. I arrived just as the rain started, spent 4 hours inside the masjid, with a 10 hour train ride there and 10 hours back. 24 hours in total.

Still, every shoot is part of the journey. Not every frame needs to be perfect to mean something. I’ll come back when the sun is out. Natural light is still my favorite collaborator. Another day, another attempt

I’ll be honest, this one didn’t turn out the way I envisioned.

Wet, cloudy, humid, and tricky interior lighting made it a challenging shoot. I arrived just as the rain started, spent 4 hours inside the masjid, with a 10 hour train ride there and 10 hours back. 24 hours in total.

Still, every shoot is part of the journey. I’ll come back when the sun is out. Natural light is still my favorite collaborator. Another day, another attempt.

I honestly do not like how these photos came out. It was wet, cloudy, humid, and the lights inside were super difficult to work with. I spent 4 hours in this masjid. Travelled 10 hours by train to it, and 10 hours back. 24 hours in total. I’m still sharing it because maybe some of you will still like it. I wanna come back when it’s sunny. Natural lighting is my favorite lighting to work with. Hopefully another day.
