Rest in Peace to all who died in the Battle of the Somme, of which today is the 100th Anniversary, in which 60,000 British and Irish soldiers were killed on the first day alone. Not a community in Ireland was left unaffected by the battle, which by the time it had ended on November 18, 1916, had only resulted in an Allied advance of a mere five miles.

SHARE TO BE IN WITH A CHANCE OF WINNING A FREE BALLAGHADERREEN 1916 COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL!
A first look at the standard version of the medal which also includes a stand and a Certificate of Authenticity. Once again we stress that only 100 of these will ever be made so get yours before its too late! The other version of the medals available is a deluxe Shadow Box version which we are taking orders for now. Our William Partridge Commemorative Medals will be on sale in the Ballaghaderreen area in the coming weeks. Each item is also individually numbered. Competition ends 31 March 2016

Wreath laying ceremony earlier today at the grave of William P.Partridge. A very nice way to commemorate his life in the centenary year of the 1916 Rising. We presented a deluxe Shadow Box version of the medals to the McAuley family, the grandsons and great grandsons of Partridge, who died almost 99 years ago on the 26th July 1917, shortly after being released from prison in England for his part in the 1916 Rising. Lest we forget.
