You might think I'm talking about apartment blocks. In fact, I'm talking about trousers.

Trousers are harder to alter at the top - the construction is technically complicated. Therefore, it's important to know what to look for, so you get it right on purchase.

Which rise you prefer will depend on:

Your leg/torso proportional balance
Your comfort level

It shouldn't depend on what's trending, your age, what other people tell you to do.

TIP: When you know your preference, measure the rise on your favourite pair of trousers with a piece of wool which you can bring with you when shopping. That allows you to measure the rise, so you don't have to try everything on. You can eliminate and refine what you bring into the changing room.

It's not always appropriate to wear lots of bright colours.

When the environment is more formal, then opt for more neutrals with a pop of colour - think interviews, business meetings, client consultations.

Less formal occasions call for more impact and more colour - think occasion-wear, leisurewear, weddings, parties, weekend casual clothes.

Wearing clothes that you feel good in releases dopamine, the happy hormone, which will affect how you feel about yourself and the day. Wearing a bright colour is one way of getting that dopamine hit (whether that colour can be seen by others or not).

The most important thing, always, is to wear what feels right for you. That will always give you what you need.
