Window Graphics and Signs 🪟🐄🚜🐑🌼

A refreshed look at Western Farming Co-Op in Balla recently. Installed by us when the new Co-Op shop opened in 2013, the original window graphics had become faded and cracked - a product of more than a decade of weathering and UV exposure 🌧️☀️

The old graphics didn't come off without a fight (they rarely do! 😅) but with a bit of elbow grease, glue remover and surface cleaner, the glass was clean and ready for a new look 🪟

The new window graphics are bright and colourful, showing Irish farming scenes, and are accompanied by two colourful signs highlighting the Co-Op's gardening area 🌼🐑🐄🚜

Many thanks to the staff of Western Farming Co-Op for their continued custom, always a pleasure to work with 🙏

BLASTA 🍟

Castlebar's newest food spot, opened its doors late last month, and has been very busy since, serving up loaded fries, shakes and other tasty treats! 🥤🍟

We dropped by during April to fit out the inside and outside of the shop, including Foamalux CNC routed stand off letters on the shop front, vinyl 'Fáilte' and 'Blasta' decals for the windows, opening hours and Instagram handle for the doors, and even wrapping a cooler and part of a cooker! 🧑‍🍳

Good luck to the crew in Blasta and thanks for the custom! 🙏

Castle Medical Centre 🏰 🩺

Some recent interior and exterior work on the Castle Medical Centre on Castlebar's Station Road.

- CNC routed 3D raised over the front door of the centre Ⓜ️

- Window decals at the front of the building, highlighting the practice's new logo 🩺

- Window frosting on the waiting room, office and doctor's surgeries, to ensure patient privacy, but still allowing light to enter ☀️

- A large sign on the gable end of the building, to catch attention and highlight the entrance and parking area 🚗

- Brushed gold plaques with black lettering at the entrance door 🚪

- A reflective sign mounted to a pillar at the front of the building, again highlighting the centre to passing motorists and pedestrians 🚗🚶

- A wall-mounted exterior sign measuring 1800mm tall, designed to again highlight the centre and be visible from the road outside. Constructed with recycled plastic uprights and aluminium composite panels 🪧

All these various types of signs work together to establish the Medical Centre's presence along what is a busy road, and should help new patients and people unfamiliar with the area to find the centre with ease. Many thanks to Doctors Bríd and Victoria, Georgina and all the staff for their help and their patience during the installation days! 😅 🙏

🎵 If you're having traffic management problems, I feel bad for you son... 😅

Some bollard sleeves pictured in place at Lough Lannagh Leisure Complex in Castlebar recently. Custom-made from Correx plastic board, these triangular sleeves sit over and around the bollards outside the conplex's main entrance, highlighting the set down area to motorists. A simple but high-visibility solution to managing parking! 🚗

Bringing back Roll-Ups 📜

We haven't stocked roll-up banners like this for a while, as we found it difficult to source good quality mechanisms and cases, but we're trying out a new source for them, and hopefully they'll stand the test of time! 🕐✅

This 2000mm x 800mm roll-up banner and two 1200mm x 600mm Corriboard signs were printed and supplied to Castlebar Value Centre for a recent in-store event.

A new look for this shop front in Westport as it becomes home to Keira Keogh TD's constituency office. We dropped by to install lettering on the overhead board, and two plaque style signs, one interior and one exterior 📠

The stand off letters are CNC routed from Foamlux plastic, and fitted with stand-off mountings that give the letters some extra depth and shadow. The 'Teachta Dála' letters were donated from the exterior of former TD Michael Ring's constituency office elsewhere in Westport, and repainted to match the current Fine Gael colour palette 🎨

The plaques are constructed from acrylic Plexiglas, which is lighter and safer than glass and resists yellowing or fading. These plaques have a clean, modern look and are maintenance-free 🪧

Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Daoibh, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎄

It's been another busy year in the Smart Art workshop, and as always, we're extremely grateful for all the support and custom from local Castlebar and Mayo businesses, clubs and organizations 🙏

Thank you to everyone who phoned, emailed or dropped into the workshop during 2025 with projects and jobs ranging from the regular to the unusual, this job is nothing if not varied! 😎

All going well, the workshop will be open again in January, until then, the fire will be on and the feet will be up with a mulled wine or two! 👣🔥🍷

Fingerpost signs on their way out of the workshop recently, heading for their new home in County Monaghan! 🪧

These signs are part of a Blue Dot project, part of a nationwide scheme that aims to highlight, preserve and protect pristine waterways around Ireland 🔵💧

Manufactured from aluminium, and with anti-rotation brackets and a reflective central panel, these signs, properly installed and maintained, will give many years of trouble-free service. They also feature a QR code, enabling passers-by to use their phone to find out more information about this particular waterway in Co. Monaghan ℹ️

Did you know that fingerpointer and fingerpost signs like these have been around since Roman times? From ancient stone marker posts to medieval wooden direction posts and to today's reflective aluminium signs, this type of sign has been helping people find their way for as long as there's been roads! 🛣️
