IPREX, The Global Communications Network, has launched its “The AI Perception Gap: Global Communications Perspectives” report, created in partnership with media intelligence service provider CARMA.

The report offers insight into how AI is framed in global media coverage, how audiences feel about its impact, and where perception gaps are emerging between public sentiment and organisational behaviour. It is informed by public opinion research with 6,300 respondents in 19 markets, and practitioner insight from IPREX members in 14 markets, together with an analysis of 12,000 media articles across 37 markets.

The report highlights different attitudes to AI across IPREX’s Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions. While partners from the Americas report rapid adoption of AI and a focus on its practical use, EMEA partners placed a greater emphasis on regulation, trust and governance. APAC members are chiefly concerned with pragmatism and values, having a more cautious approach to AI adoption.

Ann-Marie O’Sullivan, AM O’Sullivan PR’s Founder and CEO, was quoted in the report, sharing her view that while clients are more eager to adopt AI than the public is ready to accept, they are not yet prepared for the accountability that comes with it.

Key takeaways on what PR professionals can do to navigate the reputational opportunities and risks brought by AI more effectively include:

1️⃣ Move beyond hype and anchor messaging in oversight - Clear communication around governance frameworks, human oversight, and accountability mechanisms is critical.
2️⃣ Address the media & audience trust gap - Communications strategies should proactively address fraud prevention, safety, and election-related safeguards.
3️⃣ Speak directly to generational anxieties - Communications should emphasise empowerment, digital literacy, and human control rather than inevitability.
4️⃣ Reframe AI from inevitability to responsibility - The next phase of AI communications will not be won by scale or valuation headlines, but by demonstrating stewardship, transparency, and long-term societal alignment.

Ann-Marie O'Sullivan, Founder and CEO, is looking forward to joining fellow business leaders and industry experts at tomorrow’s American Chamber of Commerce Ireland Global Business Conference in Croke Park. AM O’Sullivan PR strongly supports the work of AmCham Ireland in advocating for US companies located in Ireland, highlighting their value to our economy and enhancing the unique US-Ireland business relationship.

In the recent US-Business in Ireland supplement, published by the Irish Examiner in partnership with AmCham Ireland, Ann-Marie reflected on almost 40 years advising the leaders of US multinationals, during which time the US-Ireland business relationship transformed from a transactional one into one of mutual dependency. She also argued that, due to factors such as Ireland’s common law system and our world-class talent pool, Ireland can continue to offer the predictability and economic resilience valued by the nearly 1,000 US firms operating in the country, despite challenges in areas such as housing, transport and the power grid.

Ann-Marie O'Sullivan, Founder and CEO, and Stephen Moynihan, Senior Client Executive, were delighted to attend yesterday’s 'Culture at the Core' event, hosted in partnership between Cork Chamber and the Marketing Institute Ireland, Cork at The Clayton Hotel.

The session explored how internal standards and leadership behaviours shape external results, and how culture is driven from the top down. The panelists were Michael O'Donnell of Alexion AstraZeneca Rare Disease; Angela Coholan of University College Cork; and Ultan O’Callaghan of the IRFU.

Their insights echo our experience at AM O’Sullivan PR: authentic communication starts from the inside out and a company’s reputation can be won or lost on its internal alignment.

Thank you to Mary Cullen of Insight HR for chairing this discussion and to Cork Chamber and Marketing Institute Ireland, Cork for organising this insightful event.

There was a time when a solid message and a strong media list were the only tools a PR professional needed. Not anymore.

In a world of infinite content, the real challenge isn't just reaching an audience, it’s staying with them.

The difference lies in creative reframing, which serves as the strategic bridge between a company’s achievement and the public’s interest. When we humanise the metrics, we ensure the message doesn't just land. It resonates.
