Entrepreneurs often portray themselves as isolated, ostracized, and lonely. And sometimes, we are!

But the elephant in the room is that, more often than not, we’ve chosen this path- whether by choice or shaped by the circumstances we grew up in. Whether it was due to family, education, or the lack of either, we felt our only option was to go it alone.

I became a solo entrepreneur recently, and over the past year, I’ve faced many of the challenges that come with it. But it’s important to remember: we signed up for this.

An old saying from my time in the army comes to mind. It was often used in tough situations - when you were cold, wet, hungry, fed up, and every decision seemed to invite criticism. When you were feeling sorry for yourself, an NCO would remind you with these simple but powerful words:

“We didn’t come knocking on your door. You asked to be here.”

While it’s not exactly empathetic, sometimes the truth is all the motivation you need.

So, I’ll sign off with this:
