JAM Marketing

JAM Marketing We help small and medium businesses to get more customers and make more profit. Effective direct response marketing that works for you and your business.

For most businesses, their web site is the first place a potential customer will come to. Its you opportunity to educate and inform these visitors to what you can do to help them solve their problem. And it's your opportunity to start to build a relationship with them. With this in mind, we want to be helpful to those we can be most helpful to. We're more than just a web design business. There's l

ots of them around - and while they're maybe okay at design, they don't understand the most important reason for the web site. We're different! - WHY? Because we're more interested in giving you a website and a marketing system that attracts customers to you and helps you make more sales. Yes, we'll help your site look good too, but its way more important that your site generates business or starts off relationships, than looking like a work of art. Of course, if you're in a flowery design business - then arty design is gonna be important - but for the rest of us, who are in business to make a profit - getting the till ringing is way more important. That's why we're different - we give greater importance to your marketing and getting the sales made - than any other web design business in Ireland.

Oh me oh my. Its been way too long since I've posted here. Tumble weeds.
Well forgive us for being busy... please?

I think its important to own you're space on social media to enable conversation to take place, but when no-ones using it to talk, then you're not really missing out?

Isn't it funny how the social media crowd will tell you that direct mail (letters in the post) is dead? then the next thing you get is a voucher from google, and promotion material from the credit card companies and banks.... Yup, direct mail is definitely dead.... Must send a memo to Serge at Google to let him know!

You're Business isn't what you think it is!

Regardless of what business you trade in, be that carpentry, dentist, restaurant, accountant, landscaping, etc. - you're primary purpose is not what you think..

At this point, you're thinking that I'm full of it, right?

Okay, well think of it this way - if your in the restaurant trade - you don't actually get to do that until someone comes through the door with an appetite and a wallet!

You don't get to be a landscaper until someone calls you up to re-do their garden.

You're actually in the marketing business - like it or not. Everything else you do is simply the deliverable - the dentistry, the hairdressing, the number crunching...

This is a completely different way of looking at your purpose in the business.

Most business owners look on marketing as an expense - a necessary evil and most people confuse advertising with marketing. They think its one in the same. Advertising is but one aspect of marketing and you'd be foolish to rely on advertising alone, as your marketing strategy.

Without any doubt, marketing is the single most important aspect of any business. Marketing is what makes the phone ring or the door swing!

It's what brings in the customers. And if you can't get customers, you don't have a business. I'm sorry if that hurts - but it's true.

And here's another truth.

The better you are at marketing your business, and the more effort you put into it, the more able you will be to attract more of your IDEAL customers - and in the end, make more money.

Ideal customers - hold that thought, because I'll give you more detail, and explain that idea in a future post.

So, if you've just glossed over this post - have another read over it. Let it sink in for a minute and if you have questions - I'm happy to answer them.
Have a great day!

Here's something to think about!

How much advertising do you do in your business each month?

Maybe you do it every 2nd month?

Here's a bit of homework...
Count up what you spend on advertising and promotion - lets go for the past year - advertising, leaflets, postcards, radio ads, exhibitions and trade events (make sure you include the cost of travel, accommodation, preparation time, etc).

Its probably a much bigger number that you first thought it would be! - for the purpose of this exercise - lets just say it €7000 - that's 140 per week - so probably not a lot!

Now look at your business income for the same period - your turnover.

What percentage is the advertising and promotion - of your turnover. If you're not good at maths - that's the first number divided by the second and multiply by 100.

Now, at this point, just be aware that you probably haven't included a cost for all the time spent answering calls an emails, going out to meet potential customers, preparing quotations, samples, presentations, etc.

That will be another big number - but it will be more difficult to calculate - as you'd have to estimate your time and apply an hourly rate to it.

For now, just be aware that we haven't included it.
Why does it matter? Because it's a big part of your marketing cost. Probably much bigger than the advertising cost!
Again for the purpose of this exercise - lets say it is another €8000 - and that's a very small number for most businesses.

So that's a grand total of €15000 for you marketing costs for the year. (just a guess to walk you through this example).

Next part...
How many leads did your advertising and promotion generate? Lets say 500 for the year - or 10 per week
and how many of these leads did you turn into paying customers?

Lets estimate it to be 150 paying customers for the year.

Okay so far?
First lets look at the cost of a lead - a potential customer... You had 500 of these and your marketing spend for the year was €15k. That means that your cost to generate a lead was €30.
Now, look at the cost per customer. €15k divided by your 150 customers. That's €100 per customer to get them in through the door to talk to you.

In the real world, depending on the number of customers you get right now - that number could be much, much higher.

Did you every work this out before?

So, what can we do for you?

We can guarantee that we can get you more leads in to your business - for the same marketing spend or less.
We can hep you convert more of these potential customers into paying customers - guaranteed.

In fact, if we were getting you more leads and helping you convert a much higher percentage of those leads - to customers - you'd be way more profitable - because your cost of acquiring a paying customer would fall dramatically.

At that rate, you'd be happy to spend much more on your marketing - because every time you'd spend - you'd make more profit!

So, do You think your business is too small to do marketing - you'll just stick to advertising in the local paper instead?

You're like most small businesses. You've been advertising in the local services section of the papers. Maybe the free ads papers too. Maybe you've set up a page to get 'Likes'?

Is this you? You've already been doing marketing - without being completely aware of it. Many people associate marketing with big businesses, with big budgets and dedicated 'professionals' to spend those budgets.

Marketing is everything that you do to attract customers - and that includes your advertising.

However, without knowing EXACTLY who you want to attract to your business - you're very likely doing what's know as shotgun marketing.

Blast your message out - and hope it gets to enough people who will be interested. A lot of "Professional marketers" will tell you "It's all about getting your name out there" - I often wonder where "There" is? And what will happen when your "name gets out there"??

Probably not a lot!

What about this for a different approach - what if you could identify those individual people who are genuinely interested in what you have to offer?

What if you could target your message directly to them?

And target them again, and again until they were ready to do business with you?

What effect do you think this would have on your marketing or advertising spend?

Now instead of blasting your message out in every direction with a shotgun, lets think of it as picking your potential customers out with a highly precise snipers rifle.

That's one way we can help you with your business. We're more than just a web design business. We're highly effective marketers and we specialise in helping business owners to get more customers and grow their profits.
