Travel Industry Golf Society held the final outing of 2026 at The Castle golf club yesterday. Bathed in autumn sunshine, there was a nip in the air, but enthusiastic participants took to the fairways and enjoyed the beautiful course.

Following the AGM, Martin Skelly (incoming President) assumed the mantle in John Galligan’s absence and business was dispatched before dinner was served. Our incoming Captain, Ann Byrne, welcomed us all and promised good things for her year at the helm.

Generously sponsored by Holiday World, Maureen & Edmond and Maria & Shane Hourican were on hand to present prizes and add to the great atmosphere of the last outing of the year.

Worthy winners were Olwen Mc Kinney (1st) and Ann Byrne (runner up) in Ladies Section: Dave Smith (1st) and Dave Conlon (runner up) Men’s Section). Phillip Airey was Golfer of the Year. Congratulations to all - and those who stayed the course!

Well done to the hard working committee (Marian, Olwen & Dave ) who have all agreed to continue in their roles next year. Fore!

🐝 Ita Hendrick, Travelbiz Trade Partner Executive, joined a select group of Irish travel trade partners as guests of Wes Marley, Senior Leisure Business Development Manager UK & Ireland, for Hilton’s inaugural Irish All-Inclusive Roadshow and Cocktail Masterclass Evening on Wednesday 14th October in Dublin’s Temple Bar.

Guests were welcomed with a glass of Prosecco before Wes delivered an engaging presentation showcasing Hilton’s extensive worldwide portfolio, exciting developments, ongoing investment and growing commitment to the all-inclusive holiday market.

🌴 HILTON IS MAKING BIG MOVES IN ALL-INCLUSIVE HOLIDAYS!

With significant investment across Mexico and the Caribbean, Hilton continues to expand its all-inclusive offering, providing Irish travel agents with even more exciting options for their holiday clients.

Wes highlighted the remarkable pace of Hilton’s development, with the group currently opening approximately one hotel a day across Mexico and the Caribbean, and the transformation of its all-inclusive offering over the past four to five years.

🌎 IRELAND TAKES CENTRE STAGE!

Dublin was the first stop on a 12-event Hilton Roadshow across the UK and Ireland, marking the first time Hilton has delivered this particular trade education initiative in Ireland.

The objective? To strengthen brand awareness, showcase the diversity of Hilton’s portfolio and equip travel agents with the knowledge and confidence to recommend Hilton properties to their customers.

And the good news? Hilton hopes to return to Ireland once or twice a year with further opportunities for trade engagement! 🙌

Spanish National Day

Celebrated on October 12th, Jacinta from Travelbiz attended the Ambassador’s Residence in Ballsbridge last night to join in the gaiety of Spanish National Day. Her Excellency, Teresa Lizarnu, Spain’s Ambassador to Ireland, opened her beautiful home to honorary consuls, trade entrepreneurs and friends of Spain.

On a wonderfully balmy evening, the marquee on the lawns was abandoned as guests wandered outside to chat, drink lovely wines and eat delicious tapas. A brass band trilled in the background as the Ambassador rose to speak. She was then joined by Minister Mary Butler TD (Minister for Mental Health and Government Chief Whip) and both ladies were eloquent in their speeches and praised the close ties between Ireland and Spain.

Relations between the two countries have never been stronger as is evidenced by the number of Spanish people choosing Ireland as their new home and vice verse as many Irish choose not only to holiday In Spain, but often take up permanent residence. Trade between Ireland and Spain is also counted in the billions.
