🏈 TOUCHDOWN! UNC TAKE THE WIN IN DUBLIN – WHAT A DAY WITH AER LINGUS! ☘️✈️ 🐝

What a day, what an atmosphere and what a fantastic occasion at the Aviva Stadium for the 2026 Aer Lingus College Football Classic!

Mr Travelbiz, Don Marino 🐝 joined our valued Travel Trade partners and Team Aer Lingus for a memorable afternoon of American College Football as the University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels took on the Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs in Dublin.

And when the final whistle blew, it was UNC who took the honours! 💙🏆

That also meant victory for Team Ivan, who had been proudly flying the flag for the Tar Heels, while Don and his TCU Horned Frogs had to accept that the bragging rights belonged elsewhere this time! 😎💜

The Aviva delivered an incredible setting for the Week Zero clash, with the full American College Football experience coming to Dublin – marching bands, cheerleaders, team colours, entertainment, touchdowns and a brilliant atmosphere throughout the stadium. 🏈🇺🇸☘️

For both universities it was a historic occasion, with UNC and TCU playing outside the United States for the first time, putting Dublin firmly in the international sporting spotlight.

✈️ A HUGE THANK YOU TO TEAM AER LINGUS

From all of us at Travelbiz, a very special thank you to Bill, Yvonne, Jennifer, Ivan, Liza and the entire Aer Lingus team for their wonderful hospitality and for looking after Travelbiz and valued Travel Trade partners throughout the day.

It was an absolutely memorable day with great people, great partners and plenty of laughs, and another fantastic example of Aer Lingus bringing the Irish Travel Trade together around a truly world-class event.

💙 Congratulations to UNC Tar Heels on the win!

💜 Commiserations to Don and the TCU Horned Frogs!

🏆 And, most importantly, a massive THANK YOU to Aer Lingus and all our Travel Trade partners for making it a day to remember.

Travelbiz was there to capture the people, pictures, atmosphere and action – so stay tuned to the Travelbiz Trade Partner Hub for more from a brilliant Aer Lingus College Football Classic weekend.

Jacinta from Travelbiz attended a marvellous afternoon with Tara Magee and Tony Lane (Visit USA Committee Ireland), Ivan Beacom (Aer Lingus) and Wit Tuttill (North Carolina) for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic yesterday.

A delicious tailgate lunch in the Morgan Hotel in Temple Bar kicked off proceedings, then on to Aviva Stadium where the atmosphere crackled and sparked. Such a spectacle. Marching bands and cheerleaders added to the electric ambiance with fireworks and flaming arrows.
National anthems rang out and the Irish and US flags were unfurled.

The opposing teams of North Carolina’s Tar Heels and Texas Horned Frogs faced off in what was a great display of skill, speed and professional prowess. Aviva was almost at full capacity (62.000!) with sky blue caps and jerseys (NC) and purple colours (TCU) cheering on.

Well, the underdogs were victorious. Tar Heels certainly kicked up their heels and claimed victory on Irish soil! What a win! Congratulations all.

Sincere thanks to Visit USA Committee Ireland, Aer Lingus and North Carolina for an exciting experience and wonderful afternoon. To the victor the spoils.

Don & Ivan go head-to-head at the Aviva! 💜💙

Game Day has arrived! 🏈🇮🇪

Travelbiz is heading to the Aviva Stadium today with our Travel Trade partners and Team Aer Lingus for one of the biggest sporting occasions of the year – the 2026 Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

And there could be a little friendly rivalry in the Travelbiz camp! 😎

💜 Don is backing the Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs

💙 Ivan is flying the flag for the University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels

The TCU Horned Frogs and UNC Tar Heels face off at 5.00pm today, Saturday August 29th, as Dublin once again becomes the European home of U.S. College Football.

This is the official Week Zero clash and opening weekend of the 2026 U.S. College Football season, with both universities making history as they take to the field in Dublin. For UNC, it's the football programme's first-ever international game, while TCU is also playing outside the United States for the first time. 🏈☘️

And this is much more than just the game. Expect the full American College Football experience at the Aviva with marching bands, cheerleaders, team colours, entertainment and plenty of noise as the Horned Frogs and Tar Heels bring a taste of U.S. game day to Dublin.

✈️ Aer Lingus has been at the heart of the action, operating dedicated flights from Dallas Fort Worth and Raleigh-Durham to bring the players, coaches, support teams and equipment to Ireland for today's showdown.

📺 The international spotlight will be firmly on Dublin too, with the game going out live on ESPN in the United States and TG4 in Ireland, as well as being available through Disney+.

Travelbiz will be pitch-side and around the Aviva today bringing our Travel Trade followers all the atmosphere, pictures, people and action from the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.
