Happy October, folks!

I couldn’t help myself - I had to start off this Stitch-tober patchwork embroidery project with the classic pumpkin.

I’ve planned the patches to start out quite cosy and autumnal and slowly gear us up for Halloween toward the end of the month.

I’m working with a limited colour palette to both make life easier for myself and to challenge my creativity. I’m going into this with no plan other than general colours, and just seeing where the day takes me!

My number one rule is: no perfection. This series is all about getting out of my head and doing something small and creative each day as we wind down and begin our Wintering.

There are a lot of native animals and plants (and even a nod to human companions 🐕) in my box this year. Ironically, before I started volunteering with Kildare Wildlife Rescue, which has deepened my appreciation for our wildlife. As always, I had such a lovely time creating this piece while getting to know the community surrounding it. In a digital world, these moments of connection with strangers are so special ❤️ already looking forward to thinking up a submission for next year - can’t wait to see the locations!

Finally, we get to painting! When we arrive at our location, the box is painted white for us to have a clean canvas.

Because we are painting traffic light boxes, we are right next to a set of lights. Which means lots of eyes on your work! It’s almost like a mini performance art piece while you make it.

There’s such a lovely community feel, hearing from people that are walking by, driving by, or stopped at the lights. So many people are grateful for this program and how much it brightens up the area. I agree! I always think it’s really fun to spot them when I’m about and about and see what unique ideas each artist had.

On Day 1 I put in 4 hours, and on Day 2 I got in 8. So by the end of this video, I’m 12 hours into painting!

Ever been curious about the painted boxes near traffic lights? runs an incredible program. As a lucky participant, I’m giving you a behind the scenes look at the making of my 2026 design!

Once I get the delivery of the artist pack, I can get started on mixing my paint. I do this before I get to the location because it’s a million times easier, to be honest! I can take my time swatching and making sure I’m all set before I’m on site.

My new website!

(Side note, no wonder I still have nightmares as an adult, who cleared that show for children?!)

This update is welllllll overdue. I hadn’t even written on my blog since last February. Eek. It’s been my unforgotten child for the past… I was going to say year and a half. But let’s be real, several years.

Back in the olden days of yore, I launched my website as a portfolio of my photography. I had skipped my annual summer visit to my family in Utah to work my first summer job. With the money, I bought my beloved DSLR.

Flash forward to college. I study abroad, travel around Europe, then move to Ireland and travel even more. My website is primarily a blog for my travels.

But in true adult fashion, my passion was never my priority. It always took a backseat. And my dedication dwindled over the years until there was but a mere ember left.

Enter: Our new era. Me, and the website, that is. I’ve built it from scratch from the ground up. Now, we’re ready to face the world as a *cringe* e-commerce platform. But in like, a whimsical, fairy in the woods, artistic kind of way. You know?

Be patient with us while we work out the kinks. But the good news is, orders are running smoothly so far! I have a few lovely little embroideries and hand-printed linocut designs up to help bring some whimsy and magic from my home in Ireland to your own home.
