The finishing touches are underway for Art Source this weekend! Here is a picture I took on Ross Island, County Kerry in Autumn last year.

This image is 1.8m wide and is mounted on scratch resistant acrylic. It is magnificent and I can’t wait to show it off.

If you would like any more information on this piece, contact me via DM, email (via the contact button) or through my website: www.endacavanagh.com

A huge thank you to my printers iarts_jim and framers Picture Bloc (pictured) – couldn’t do it without you.

We are so lucky to have the opportunity to smell, touch and feel the ''soul of paper'' of some extraordinary artworks and then permission from clients to finalize them and give them that last touch putting them in one of our handcrafted frames.

The picture below is showing a superb, richly printed Woodblock from Salvador Dali's famed Dante’s Divine Comedy, published by Foret/Les Heures Claires-1960.

For this piece, we found a perfect 10mm wide HW Maple that we stained in dark Ebony colour to complement the tone of a print.
Float frame with UV+AR glass is chosen to show embedded edges that are an important part of that type of print. The frame itself doesn't stand in the way of the light that shines through this form. It is showing it in all of it's glory.

We love it when clients visit our studio with interesting pieces of various artworks.

A long-time client recently stopped by with this beautiful piece. During the consultation process, we immediately settled on a float box frame, also known as a shadow frame. For that beautiful type of frame, we used -20 mm Ash hardwood, one of the hardest and most durable wood, but we limed coat it to give it a more delicate look as well as a lighter colour with the accent on the grains sequins. The frame was finalised with UV70% Clear glass by TruVue.

We pride ourselves on making the most of our materials. Everything we custom frame at Picture Bloc is conservation grade at a minimum and we also provide archival museum framing.

We are incredibly grateful to clients that return to our business to custom frame their treasures knowing we will have it what is best to make them not only look good but last for decades.

Did you recently purchase or inherit an old artwork in a period frame that has seen better days?
Picture Bloc framing experts can stabilise the frame, make the necessary repairs to the ornamentation and the finish, and reinstall the art to fit the modern decor.
There is no need to hide the family portraits in a closet because the frames are damaged. Almost anything can be restored.

In the pictures below we reuse client old frame, changed the damaged window mount with a new conservation-grade soft white, add AR UV glass, sand and layered wooden frame with one coat of light teak stain -refresh all together, but preserved the original appearance.
Restoring an old picture frame is a great way to make something old new again!
