When we ask Victoria to describe her ideal client and a wee bit of her-storyβ¦ π’π¨βΊοΈ
Over 11 years ago, When Victoria first moved from the Highlands, through to Aberdeen and what was then the oil capital of Europe, she was working her way up in Construction Recruitment and Coordination.
βIβd previously worked for years for HSBC and had gone into a recruitment office to look for something different. I ended up working in the recruitment officeππ.
I just loved the folk, the guys were just so down to earth, real and raw you know, and the banter was superb. We were mostly recruiting for the shipyards out at Invergordon and Nigg. My dad worked in shipyards all over and my granda worked at shipyards too including Harland & Wolff in Belfast (he wasnβt responsible for the Titanic I may addπ). I went from that to working in Rope Access in Aberdeen for the offshore rigs and when it came to keeping folk from falling off said rigs, Iβd say I was quite good at itπ.β
A move to the coast and the small village of Cruden Bay encouraged her to research the local history and heritage. The following 2 years took her all over Scotland doing the same with The Aye Life - and then a year later she opened a marketing and web development business alongside her partner Scott. Theyβd meet folk from the Head Chef, right back to the fisherman, farmer, or distiller. Then, over 2 years ago, Victoria added working from Ireland, alongside Scotland, to their roster.
βI love speaking to the Head Chef, but I also really love meeting the man who caught the fishπ. These folk, similar to the folk who I recruited back in Inverness, are as real and as raw as they come. Theyβre grafters, the lines on their faces tell a thousand stories and yet the words that come out of their mouths are even betterπ€πΌ. And hardly any bu**er records them! So, theyβre the stories I love telling.β
So, when you see Victoria joking about her obsession with fishermen and boatsβ¦ it goes way deeper (literally) than you would thinkππ£β΅οΈ
