Our little Jackson left us this week after 14 years of faithfully minding us.

We are totally heartbroken.

Jackson loved:

*Sausages
*Barking at bigger dogs
*All children

He bounced like a bunny rabbit when he ran.

He snored.

He knew how to make the windows go down in the car so he could stick his head out.

He was always a scruffy looking schnauzer.

He never had a cross mood. Not once.

I keep looking down waiting for him to come into the room but alas, that's not going to happen.

Coming down to earth gently this morning, carried by the stories that gave to our workshop group in the forest , Galway.

It's quite something to experience seeing a master at work and Clare Murphy... well she is a storyteller, teacher, wise woman in her own class.

I LOVED every minute of it. So grateful I got to spend time with her and the forest school leaders & storytellers she gathered - gorgeous, clever, kind, honest women.

I'm gushing but I can't help it.
It was the medicine I needed.

'Nerv-Cited' for sure.

I'm delivering a 90 minute keynote to a large group of global CFO's on the power of storytelling.

The venue? Oh just the main room at Redbull arena Milton Keynes...

Dear welltold

I wanted to write you a little note for Valentines day

Because even though you came into my life 8 years ago

It's only in the last 6 months or so, that I have truly come to appreciate you

I'm sorry it took me so long, it's just that for years, it felt like such hard work!

😕 Figuring out what you were

🤯 What you needed

🤕 How to make us work well together

I would wake up and genuinely dread meeting you in the office.

I gave out about you all the time, moaning and complaining

And I wasn't respectful of your time at all

I am sorry about all of that.

Now I can see what a great gift you have given me

And with such unwavering loyalty

🥰 You have brought me into contact with the most incredible people

🪴 Pushed me to grow and learn in ways I could never have imagined

🎓 Helped me put my son through University, with another one en route

📚 Made it possible for me to write a book - or impossible not to actually

✈️ Allowed me to travel all over the world

More than anything, you have shown me what I can do

And how special that it is

What an act of love!

This is the title of chapter 5 of my book on leadership storytelling 'So What, Who Cares'?

It's all about fear and how it influences our capacity to communicate in a storied way.

I get it. I've witnessed it to some degree or another in every client I've worked with or the teams I've trained.

And I'm closely familiar with it personally 😉

But growth doesn't happen in a comfort zone and neither do stories. You can't get better at something without practise.

And on the other side of fear, lies a lot of truly great stuff:

✨Confidence
✨Connection
✨Relief
✨Creativity
✨Understanding
✨Inspiration

Imagine if Dorothy hadn't experienced what a leader she was?

The Scarecrow hadn't found his wisdom?

Or the Cowardly Lion didn't realise his bravery?

What a waste it would have been.

But your life, leadership or business isn't a movie or a fairytale.

So if you're holding yourself back from speaking up and sharing stories because you are afraid, take this as a post to encourage a change in direction, take a chance. Explore your story. Give it a go!
