HOLY MOUNTAIN
Irish Pagan/Viking Metal act, Ren Marabou and the Berserkers, just released its new album, "Helgafjell."

The front cover artwork seems to be a representation of the record's title. "In Norse mythology, people who die after leading exceptionally good lives find themselves in a blissful place for all eternity. This place is called Helgafjell, which means Holy Mountain," explains the band's drummer and graphic artist, Terence McCann of Black Dog Graphic Design. "Some living people have said they’ve seen into this mountain afterlife and what they’ve seen was not intimidating, but rather a scene of home and happiness. After we came up with the name Helgafjell, Ren was out hiking in the Donegal Mountains when he noticed the clearest full double rainbow haloing a mountain which he and his [late] Dad once visited—a mountain Ren spiritually associated with Helgafjell. Taking a photograph of the mountain and the rainbow, Ren then created a rough concept album cover which he then passed over to me."

McCann "felt a lot of responsibility in translating Ren’s original concept into actual final album artwork because of the weight and depth of meaning behind the whole album. The idea of the Runic/Celtic frame around the visual (and around the lyrics on the inside) happened very early on in the process as I began seeing this collection of songs almost as a family album because the songs are about life, love, loss, death, grief and the process of moving forward in life—which we all have to do."

Heathen Tribe, today we finally announce the release of ‘Helgafjell (Holy Mountain)’ through Wormholedeath 🤘🏻🔥

A proud day to say the least. So much work went into this album by so many people. A massive thank you to everyone at Split Screen Management, Wormholedeath Records, Black Dog Graphic Design, Volume Agency, The Orchard, Aural music, our incredible Berserker crew and of course our Shield-Maiden Earl Kathy Marabou (photographer, videographer, tour manager and over all bosserker).

From the first day of writing in Skåld Studios Donegal in January 2023 to the final days of mixing and mastering in December 2023 this album journey has been an incredible experience. It’s now time for our loyal Heathen Tribe to listen to these songs and experience our Journey. We put more of ourselves into this album then we’d even care to admit. This album is dedicated to Ren’s Father Micka who we lost in September 2022. May he rest well in Helgafjell.

We proudly used Cassidy Guitars, Blackstar Amplification, Skull strings and Iron Age Guitar Accessories, Tama Drums on every track of ‘Helgafjell’.

Physical release tba but as of now it is available on all digital platforms.

Now our Heathen Brothers and Sisters we want to thank you for all the support and we can wait to see you all on the ‘Holy Mountain Tour, which kicks on in June 8th in Sally Longs Galway.

Heathen Tribe, we are excited to announce our Irish tour to promote our upcoming album ‘Helgafjell (Holy Mountain)’. We will be joined on the tour with our Brothers in String Cut Puppets and Expedition. We are also delighted to have our good friends joining us at certain shows, The Spudguns, Shock Sorrow, Rac’s Roll and Stanton's Grave with more tba 🛡️⚔️

First stop is Sally Longs Galway on
June 8th. Then we hit Pharmacia Limerick on June 14th in association with A.L.M Promotions
July 13th McHughs Venue, Drogheda
September 14th Fred Zeppelins, Cork
October 12th Smiddy's/The Stables Venue, Mullingar.
November tbc
December 7th Sandinos Bar/Club, Derry for our Yuleblót Celebration.
