🚨 GARDA MEETING COMPLETE AHEAD OF KING OF THE CONE 🚨
We met with the Gardaí today ahead of King of the Cone and, according to them, they’re going all in this year.
€340,000 has reportedly been invested in a new ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) drone system across Letterkenny.
Every road in.
Every road out.
Full aerial coverage throughout the weekend.
The drones can reportedly identify registration plates from above and track vehicle movements in real time.
You probably won’t see them.
You definitely won’t hear them.
But they’ll be there.
We were told:
👉 If you’re bouncing it off the limiter, it’ll be heard.
👉 If you’re doing pulls on public roads, it’ll be recorded.
👉 If you’re driving like a clown to get attention, expect attention back.
No hiding up side roads.
No disappearing through housing estates.
No second chances.
The message was simple:
“If the drone sees it, the ANPR already knows who you are.”
So read that again.
If you’re coming for a look, to enjoy the rally, the cars and a bit of craic, you’ll have absolutely no bother.
If you’re coming to act the hero on public roads, don’t be surprised if you’re identified and invited for a conversation you won’t enjoy.
And before anyone starts…
Don’t shoot the messenger. 😅
