Period correct uniform needs period accurate buttons. Thankfully, there are some small manufacturers, who are doing exactly that: researching and replicating all those small bits from era long gone. Friday saw myself on the morning train bound for pre-arranged meeting in Dublin's Collins' Barracks. Over all, I would call it a successful research trip for possible uniform reproduction. Resourcing material required might take a while, though. #1782

Is all quiet at vonWeissenburg front? Not really, family, daily job and life in general might be taking over lately, however, something exciting might be brewing ;) More in depth research still needs to be done and, maybe, one day we will see accurate reproduction of Irish uniform of 1850's. For now, though, couple of original buttons will have to do. #1782

Every self-respecting officer should have carrying bag for their Stulphut/bicorne :) One can use period correct paper-mache, sheet metal or wooden box, or one can create their own, airport security friendly travel bag: Natural linen, bone buttons and 'must have' Imperial identification :)

It's the small details, which make historical costumes truly historical. And, although, original items are possible to get in many cases, is it necessary to drag 300 years old cane over modern concrete and tarmac damaging the fragile ferrule and constantly worrying about period ivory top? Personally, I do not think so and I have done it, not to mention that every walking stick should be made to fit the wearer... So, here they are, von Weissenburg replicas: Malacca/Rattan wood as per original, synthetic Elforyn replaces natural Ivory top and newly engineered sturdy Brass and Steel ferrule for modern hard surfaces...and those do fit like a glove :)
