Celebrating the story of Blarney Woollen Mills for Heritage Week 🐑

Built in 1823, Blarney Woollen Mills was originally known as Mahony's Mills and provided valuable employment to the people of Blarney and surrounding areas. In 1928 a boy of 13, like most of his friends in the area, began to work in O'Mahony's Mills. His name was Christy Kelleher.

This custom made mural is the story of the man, the mill and the creation of a global brand.

There are custom murals throughout the hotel but this most recent one is extra special. While in the process of raising enough money to purchase the mill, in 1967 Christy Kelleher started a small souvenir shop in this very cottage.

The heritage both of the brand and the building are wonderful and make for a great story.

Art in hotels is hot 🔥

The fusion of hospitality and culture in hotels provides a way into thinking about the politics and emotions that make different places unique.

“Art is a window, a layer to see the world in another way, to feel something new or familiar. When we travel, art can help us to understand and connect to the place we have arrived in, without the need for words.”

The most interesting hotels are increasingly aware of how art can make them feel original, contemporary, inspiring, dramatic and beautiful—and, of course, provide a killer backdrop to the perfect selfie.

Collaboration between art galleries and museums provides hotels with a rich regional seam of imagery.
As most artwork is now scanned for archive purposes, access to high resolution images with permissions has allowed us to produce art gallery grade wallcoverings for the hospitality sector.

Go Green 💚

Working with a brand like DHL for over a decade has been wonderful.
They always set an exacting quality standard which works well for us.
In this new facility the reception is designed to be attractive - primarily for their employees. DHL are a very employee-centric company 👏. The company's Go Green mission and brand guidelines are adhered to .. but the imagery is natural and the colours are fresh and uplifting.

Our design team went all out to create an exciting and engaging design and print job for this Hilton hotel in Chicago. It's playful and fun .. but adds a very special feel to these bedrooms.

End of year memories from 2024 include this public history installation commissioned by Absolute Hotel Limerick under the guidance of

Telling the story of Limericks Canal District, our design pulls together maps, photographs, a short narrative and a QR link to Open House Limerick video.
It delivers an engaging and accessible guide for locals and visitors alike.

The Story of Jazz

Born in New Orleans, this proof of concept tells the story of 'Made in Chicago Jazz' in all its forms.
Emerging from small clubs in 1920's South Chicago, this iconic genre went around the world .. carried by legends like Miles Davis, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and Benny Goodman to name a few.

Neither a 'history lesson' or a timeline, this story was designed to engage with all ages. Styled on advertising posters from the 1930's, the contemporary look creates an energy that makes it fresh and interesting.

The idea behind this came from a conversation about how we create our graphic concept .. how we pull together unique stories that feel and look good.
The ingredients? .. an experienced marketing and design team who know how to pull the essence of brand storytelling together.

Big enough to deliver results on budget and on time, we are small enough to care about each and every commission.
