Great news for Waterford!

FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT

Waterford City was successful today( Monday 15th March 2021) with the announcement of the allocation of €27,660,000 under the Urban Regeneration & Development Fund (URDF) by the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien for an ambitious City Centre regeneration project.

Cultural Quarter

· Beach Tower Plaza – A new public plaza and performance space connected via Georges Street and O’Connell Street with opportunity for new residential properties.

· WIT led Smart City Innovation Hub is proposed for the former presbytery building at 3/4 Georges Street.

· Gateway Plaza – A new plaza with sculpture which will become an iconic entrance point to the City and provide a much needed amenity in the Cultural Quarter.

Viking Triangle

· Friary Square – A newly created public square will connect Greyfriars and Bailey’s New Street via Brick Lane and the newly developed Parade Quay properties.

· 18 Lady Lane – A proposal to develop the listed building into high quality apartments in tandem with a commercial facility on the ground floor. Works will be carried out in association with the Irish Landmark Trust due to the exceptional quality of original design features in the building.
