I’ve never believed in social media agencies.

I’ve always felt that they make cookie cutter content and when someone different is handling each aspect of the content it quickly becomes impersonal, bland, and uninteresting. When the manager doesn’t get to know the people and story behind the brand, what makes them special falls through the cracks.

This is one of the main reasons I’ve been hesitant to expand by business and hire more people, even after I beyond hit my max client load.

But, at the start of 2023 I knew it was time to expand my business in some way. In comes who encouraged me to start using my experience to train new social media managers. Together with her many years of business experience we felt we could help young professionals dreaming of the freelance life make it a reality!

Just before Pesach, we got together to host our first ever Social Media Managers training course. It started with 2 jam packed days of in person training and will continue with our managers interning for 3 months with their own clients and lots of support. After completing their internships they’ll be JLM Social certified managers!

New adventures are scary but with these 4 incredible ladies it has been so much fun!

2021 was easily the most challenging, scary, and rewarding year of my life.

Today, while I was looking over my end of year summary, I realized that I tripled my income last year… during my first full year as a freelancer. That means, what I made in shekels in 2020 I made in dollars in 2021.

It wasn’t easy by any means and I learned a ton along the way…

A few important things I am remembering as we step into a new year of opportunity:

1. Saying no is your friend.
2. Sometimes you have to let go of things that feel comfortable in order to make space for new adventures.
3. Find the people that push you to do better and be better and don’t let them go.
4. You deserve to be spoiled sometimes.
5. If a client isn’t serving you, you have the ability to walk away.
6. Taking a break will help you be more productive later.
7. Investing in yourself is important.
8. Your age has nothing to do with how successful you can be.
9. They are not your competition. There is room for everyone.
10. Charge more. Full stop.

What did you learn in 2021?

Incase you’re confused, the appropriate thing to do when you don’t like someone’s content is to simply keep scrolling. Your negativity will not add anything to this world.

How are all the most loved Instagram accounts gaining followers in 2021?

By using other platforms! I would venture to say nearly all of the most popular Instagram accounts right now had their start on tiktok. Including , , and .

The Algorithim (while slowly improving, maybe…) is not the most forgiving and puts a lot of road blocks in the way of you and growing your community.

That’s why it’s important to build what I refer to as your “Social Media Ecosystem”. It’s never a good idea to rely solely on one platform and instead you should be using each platform for what it’s worth.

While is incredible for keeping in touch with your community and building that personal connection that often leads to conversion…

is killer for exposure and allows you the potential to reach an absurd number of people even if you have only a handful of followers.

is old faithful and Facebook groups are an incredible resource for finding like minded people, potential clients, and a place where you can often straight up ask for followers/ present what you offer to new people in a straightforward way. (And it’s the most linkable platform!)

Those are the big three but don’t discount the power of Pinterest, especially paid ads or linked in for networking. And of course, build an email list because while social media platforms come and go, email is a cornerstone of connection.

(Swipe through to see a little taste of what can happen in just a few days on tiktok… and guess what? Thanks to the growth there, she gained over 600 followers on IG in a week as well.)

This weeks Sunday Challenge:

I know a lot of us are worried about constantly creating new and inventive content.

But guess what?

The three R’s aren’t just for your trash: reduce, reuse, recycle is also for social media.

Post about an old trip- who doesn’t love nostalgia? Share some highlights you remember to this day and why they hold such a special place in your mind.

Share some amazing shots of your business in its first days. Talk about what you’ve learned or what you wish you could say to yourself back then.

Repost user generated content! (Aka, reuse photos of your products in action from happy customers)

Have a caption that got super high engagement a few months ago when you had half the followers? Great, I bet you no one will notice if you reuse it.

You don’t always have to create new content, I bet you’ve got plenty of it hidden in your camera roll.

Go look now! And then post it ✔️

A lot has changed in the year since I sat outside Metaphora and JLM Social became official. It’s been a crazy, scary, difficult, empowering, incredible year.

From signing my first client to creating a logo, signing more clients, going to ikea to get office supplies, moving apartments, taking my first business trip to New York, and spending countless hours in Tel Aviv- every moment has pushed me, challenged me, surprised me, and made my life so much better.

Thanks for being here for the last year and sharing in this journey with me ❤️

This goes far beyond just social media and marketing.

Embracing saying no and listening to your gut is not an easy thing to do.

It is one of those things we all know the benefits of, we all say we will do, but I think few of us actually have the strength to say it.

BUT THIS IS ME TELLING YOU TO SAY NO.

HECK NO.

NO WAY.

I CAN’T.

NOT THIS TIME or better yet NOT EVER.

And for the love of all things, please don’t apologize for saying no. You have every right.

So if you’re fully booked this month, don’t over work yourself! Say no. Tell them when you’re available next month and remind them the importance of scheduling in advance. Or offer them a waiting list in case of cancellation but explain that is rare and you will be in touch IFFFFFFF something opens up.

If the client doesn’t feel like a good fit- TURN THAT S**T DOWN. You know what works for you. If something is telling you this person will make your life harder, not be a valuable partnership, drive you bananas… SAY NO.

If you aren’t interested in the collab or don’t have the time for it- yalla, don’t do it.

Someone asked you to share their new book, post, video, sale? You don’t want to? THATS YOU’RE PREROGATIVE. SAY NO.

You have to stick up for your own wants and needs. No one else will.

Say no.

It’s liberating.

It is life changing.

Tuesday’s have become a busy work day full of travel for me so I am officially moving to Sunday.

This week I want you to .

I think we like to make fun of people that do things just to post about them, but personally I have found that the things I do for content end up becoming some of my favorite memories.

Instagram inspires me to get out of the house, visit new places, try new things, and explore Israel.

So this week, do something just because it is and let me know what you do and how it goes in the comments.

Some ideas:
- work from a cool cafe to make a reel about it
- go for a hike to a photo worthy spot
- go to a few stores relevant to your niche and review them
- meet up with that insta friend you always dm but have never met
-try a tiktok trend at home

📸 When captures you in your element. 📸Filming reels is my new passion in life.

How do I decide which brands to collab with on ?

I always ask myself, would I recommend this brand to my followers if I wasn’t getting anything out of it?

If the answer is yes, I accept the collab.
If it’s no, I turn it down.

I always give brands more than they ask for with partnerships because I genuinely love the businesses I work with.

I want them to succeed and I want to do everything I can to help them. If you don’t feel this way, don’t accept the collab.

Simple as that.

(I choose not to take on paid partnerships to preserve the authenticity of my page but I do accept free gifts with clear understanding that I will not post if I am not in love with the product.)

It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for your New Year Tuesday Challenge!

While setting goals is important, the act of physically writing (or typing) them makes you 42% more likely to achieve them!

This week I want you to sit down and write your goals for 2021. These aren’t meant to be necessarily social media goals but broader goals in life or in business.

Once you’ve done that, look at them again and make a list of all the ways social media can help you hit those goals. Let that be your motivation in the new year.

20/12/2020

“I made Aliyah when I was 21, two and a half years ago with exactly $500 in my bank account.

I had a plan and it quickly fell through, so I did what I had to in order to make a living… I became a bartender in the Shuk (tbt to a gf vegetarian working at Hatch - האטצ׳).

Now, there is nothing wrong with bartending for a living if that is your passion. As much as I love drinking, it wasn’t mine.

But those two months bartending lead to a part time social media management job alongside my ‘big girl job’ that paid me even less than bartending had.

And that part-time job led to a few really amazing freelancing offers- which led to launching my business- which led to doubling my salary, finally being financially stable for the first time in my life, getting to put money into savings, and getting an intern (go show some love.)

This is not meant to be a flex or me patting myself on the back. This is me telling you that you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to. You don’t need family supporting you, an expensive business coach or fancy equipment to follow your dreams.

Nu, yalla, start living the life you want already! And go like JLM Social 😄" – Jazzie Morgan NBN’18 Daufuskie, Island, South Carolina>Jerusalem
