Ever said yes, then spent the next three hours wondering why you said yes?
Someone asks you something, you say yes even if you don't wish to, you suppress your needs and then you feel resentful. And the cycle repeats.
Here's the thing:
1. Need: You look for approval, appreciation, peace or acceptance.
2. Give: So you keep saying yes, even when you don't have the time, energy or desire.
3. Suppress: You tell yourself, “It's okay. I'll manage.”
4. Resent: And when you are not considered even after doing so much and you start thinking, “Why does nobody consider me?”
5. Repeat: Instead of changing the pattern, you give again.
The interruption isn't simply learning to say NO.
It starts with asking:
“What am I saying YES to—and what am I saying NO to within myself?”
Where do you notice yourself getting stuck in this cycle?
