As soon as the reader works too hard, they switch off. They stop concentrating, they stop listening, they leave.⁣

Make the process of reading your carousels easy, then you’ve already won half the battle of getting people to engage.⁣

At the end of your easy to read carousel is where you drop your value bombs. Build up to that moment and then deliver.⁣

BRACE YOURSELVES! - CONTROVERSIAL THOUGHT INCOMING!

There is a common misconception that to grow on Instagram, you need to continuously share picture perfect, professionally minted photos of yourself. While I have absolutely nothing against leveraging your looks to build your influence (if you’ve got it, you better flaunt the heck out of it) – it’s not difficult to see how this assumption can trap many people in action paralysis.

I’ve been there. I remember hopping from one photoshoot to the next to make sure I have a constant supply of photos to share on my old page. It affected how consistently I could show up for my audience - no new photo, no new post. And it put a significant dent in my pocket at the time.

Until I started growing this page. What a relief to learn that it doesn’t matter if I wear a hoodie or a chic outfit, if I am made up or just rolled out of bed – my audience is more concerned with the thoughts I have to share and my expertise.

So for those who harbor this concern, it’s absolutely fine. Your growth on the platform doesn’t have to rely on whether you can afford (energetically or financially) a professional photoshoot or not. You can place your thought leadership front and centre and still excel in your brand building efforts and your business.

And while the occasional personal touch is still recommended, your page doesn’t have to rely on it.

A WEEK’S STORIES IDEAS. DESCRIPTIONS IN THE CAPTION - I’ve talked about the importance of incorporating stories into your storytelling strategy. Perhaps, next only to IG Lives, Stories are a quality way to build trust with your audience and nurture them toward becoming paying super fans. But I get that it might seem daunting for some. So here are stories ideas for the coming week to make that part a little easier.

1.) Share an on-going project: Whether it’s paid client work or something you’re doing for fun, show your audience a project you’re working on.

2.) Discuss a professional topic: Think of a professional topic you have expertise on. Share your thoughts on it with your audience.

3.) Your favorite work-day snack: This is a fun one. Show your audience how you break from work.

4.) Share a favorite quote: Talk about a quote that has most impacted you in life.

5.) Talk about your role model: Think about a role model in your life. Tell your audience why they inspire you.

6.) Share a professional lesson: Think about a teachable moment in your profession. Tell your audience about it and why it was teachable.

7.) Tease upcoming week’s plan: Whether you have an IG live or a post collaboration coming up, tell your audience what they have to look forward to in the coming week.

It can be easy to get into a creative rut and feel like it's impossible to come up with what you're going to post next. These are some ways that I get out of my funk and put a spin on how I usually do things.

For the most part (my personal content) I need to be reading a lot of books and consuming articles. I naturally have a desire to learn and want to add my own flavour to things, but when I get too busy to have put in energy to do this I usually resort to one of these 5 methods.

One of the most popular questions I get in my DMs is “what font do you use for your cover image?” With a starting price of $200, the cost of the most popular cover image font in the carousel community, Champion Gothic, is pretty steep.

So I took the time to research and gather a list of fonts that are great alternatives to Champion Gothic. And better yet, they are completely free!

PLEASE READ CAPTION - wondering how to tell your story progressively? Here’s a blueprint.

Your story should be a combination of what you care about (your values), who you are (your unique self) and what you sell (your products and services). And the progression of your story depends on the nature of your relationship with your audience.

Picture this analogy:

When you first meet someone, your conversations might involve things that you have in common - your shared interests and values.

But after a while, you might start to share more about yourself - what you care about and what you want.

And then you might progressively start sharing more personal stories than before. This is the way a relationship progresses.

Similarly, in the beginning of an influencer-to-audience relationship, you should tell stories about shared interests and values and build up to stories about your products and services themselves.

While the other side is the creatives who are right-brain thinking with intuitive, emotional, spatial, visual, physical. -
Unfortunately the left side of the brain does not always know how to talk to the left side. Whenever there is a rift between strategy and creativity. It can cause a brilliant strategy to fail where it counts the most, that being at the point of contact with the customer. -
It's paramount to strengthen the communication between the two and to build a business that has solid foundations in both sides. This will enable you to scale your business quickly with being able to establish an extremely toxic brand in your marketplace.
