*Anantnag Police arrested a Drug Peddler and Seized a Chemist Shop*

Anantnag, 6 Feb, 2024:

Police party from Police Station Bijbehara laid down a naka near Fruit Mandi Jablipora and apprehended one individual namely Ishfaq Ahmad Wagay, S/O GH Qadir Wagay R/O Jablipora Bijbehara along with 5.2 kg of B**g Boosa. In this regard, a case FIR No. 26/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation taken up.

Moreover, a team of Bijbehara Police in collaboration with the Drug Controlling Authority Anantnag, conducted various raids at several places in Bijbehara and Hassanpora area. The team seized a medical agency at Hassanpora Bijbehara operating under the name and style Pharma House Pharmaceutical Distributors, run by one Aijaz Ahmad and his associate, without any authority. Medicines worth lakhs were seized under relevant provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and rules thereunder.
Additionally, medical sale establishments in the area were inspected regarding the sale of medicines with addiction liability. Chemists were urged to maintain proper records of all Schedule H1 medicines as per prescribed norms and to remain vigilant regarding any suspicious activity.
